Tekels Park Guest House

Tekels park guesthouse is an old building and the rooms are old style, small and primitive by modern standards. But the beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean and warm on chilly winter nights. For my room there was a shared bathroom. Despite the guesthouse being busy it was not a problem, a bathroom was always available when I needed one. The breakfast is good, eggs and bacon cooked by order and cereals and bread avait you in the breakfast room. Then it is the staff. They were all extremely positive and helpful people. Delivering more than you would expect in a hotel or guesthouse. An example, after my last night I had planned to walk to the train station (15-20 min walk) to get a train to London. On my way out the woman in the reception insisted on driving my to the train station instead of walking. I accepted her offer and was delivered at the train station. This was more thoughtful and generous than I would have expected anywhere on my trips. This guesthouse is next to a park and every morning I walked through the park on my way to work and also in the evening on the way back to the guesthouse. There are many birds and squirrels in and around the park and if you are staying in this area this would be a perfect park to take a bridge camera along to photograph the wildlife.
