The room was actually a lot nicer and bigger than I expected from all the bad reviews. It had all necessaries like a good comfortable bed, desk, enough lights, nice clean bathroom, tea making facilities etc. I particularly liked that the desk was fairly big to work on and en-suite bathroom had a window as well as in the living room, which is very rare for a budget hotel or even for a lot more expensive hotels. It's true that the lift was not working, the sink had a little crack and the corridor and stair carpets were a bit worn out and the shower water pressure is not very strong. But actual room was clean and decent and there was no noise/smell/neighbour problem. Yes, heating was kept on all day but you can open the window so it was not a issue. Same for the shower that you can adjust the temperature unlike some other people's review. The location was great too. Only about a mile and a bit to Birmingham city centre and with free parking spaces. Receptionist Asharn was really a friendly and helpful guy. He was happy going through all the troubles with my last minute's request to cancel the last night's stay as the booking.com would not allow me to do so without charging me. In the end, he kindly offered to help with the luggages to upstairs.
