Lovely guest house situated half a mile from the town centre. Very clean, warm and friendly appearance. Host very welcoming. Room spacious with a love walk in shower.

Owners were very accommodating, the room was high quality, enjoyed our 1 night stay and would fully recommend!

Really nice B&B, easy to find and good to access the area, right near a spectacularly nice park.

This Bed and Breakfast was lovely, we received a warm welcome by the owners, we arrived late in the day but this wasn’t a problem to them. The room was delightful, spotlessly clean and very comfortable, sweetener was appreciated! 
The breakfast was served in the bright conservatory and was superb, we were asked the night before if we had any dietary requirements to ensure our breakfast was served in good time the next morning, this was a lovely touch.

What can I say?  Having run my own - quality inspected - guest house, managed two and operated at all accommodation levels, I can honestly say that this is one, if not the best guest house in which, I have ever stayed.  Wonderful decor, superbly clean and comfortable and a delicious well-cooked breakfast, can be enjoyed, here.  The decor is great: light and airy, with a modern seasideish theme throughout this lovely, imposing, Victorian property.  Just to add, I am looking forward, to staying again!

My room was in the rear corner away from both roads, so was wonderfully quiet. Everyone there was wonderful, it was great to hang out in the garden and the bar. Terrific stay!

Lovely place

Fantastic stay!

This was second honeymoon to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary returning to where we went on honeymoon. Our original guest house was no longer open. Cairn House did not disappoint, from the moment we arrived we felt at home. Our room was on ground floor so easy access, it was large and bright with views of the hills and the sea from the large bay window. We made use of the local bus which stopped just a few yards from the front door to get into town and back in the evening to get an evening meal. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked with good choice and quality. There is also a bar area where you can get soft or alcoholic drinks during afternoon or evening. When we next return to Ilfracombe we will have no hesitation in booking here again.

Warm welcome felt at home.

We have passed this place numerous times on our journey from Woolacombe to Ilfracombe but never really took much notice of it.However, we needed a one night(Friday) stay in October 2023 for three of us and needed two rooms so we searched trip advisor and Cairn House was available.It is a really lovely house, full of character and made better with the warm welcome from our host Margaret and her staff.The rooms were cosy, warm,spotless clean and the views were wonderful.Breakfast was wholesome and filling and we weren't rushed.We walked down to the town(approx 15mins) and noticed that Ilfracombe Rugby Club had their annual bonfire and fireworks event so we went along and it was really lovely, the firework display being the best we've seen in ages and it was very well organised.All in all Cairn House was a great place to stay and not over priced either.


Unexpected but really lovely find.

We stayed at Cairn House for 3 nights as a family of 4 in room 8. We honestly could not fault this place. The owners are lovely and friendly, really lovely people. I didn’t want to come home! Our room was a quadruple room on the top floor. Beautifully decorated, very clean, comfy beds and a sofa by the window where there is a beautiful view of bicclescomb park. A HUGE tv and a nice clean bathroom with a powerful shower over a good sized bath. Tea and coffee were topped up every day. Also has an air con unit!! Massive bonus in a top floor room. Breakfast was lovely and Margaret remembered what we liked and was served hot and quickly. The honesty bar was great! Soft drinks, beers, ciders, wine, Prosecco, snacks to name a few. Just take what you like and write it down and pay at the end of your stay, there is also a small ice machine and proper glasses for wine, pints and Prosecco. So close to Ilfracombe harbour and 10 minutes from woolacombe where the beach is just lovely. I can highly recommend The Depot just up the road from Cairn House for an evening meal, the tacos were amazing! All in all I just loved this place and will almost certainly be back! Don’t hesitate to book Cairn House.

Perfect place to stay

Cairn House is a lovely B&B in Ilfracombe. It's right across from a big park with a play area, tennis courts, tea room and pond. We had an impromptu breakaway and stayed in the family room on the top floor (room 8). The room was very well designed and there was lots of space for us and the kid. The room was en-suite with a lovely bath with overhead shower. Breakfast was included in the extremely reasonable price and was cooked to our liking and plentiful.  Everything was spot on and we loved our short stay.

Family stay

Booked for 3 nights in the downstairs king ensuite room in beautiful Ilfracombe on our May road trip. Nick and Margaret were great, really friendly and offered us advice on where to visit and places to eat. The room was spacious and very clean and tidy and the bed and pillows super comfy. Breakfast was tremendous with plenty of choice and the conservatory light, airy and modern. The location is perfect. A decent walk into town of about 15/20 minutes for us and is up hill coming back but there is a regular bus stopping outside if needed but we were fine to walk back at night. My hubby is mad on his car and parking is always important. Margaret made sure he had a decent parking space to come back to and this made my day as well as is!!! No more panicking about rubbish car park facilities. I can not think of one negative at all and this is probably the best guest house we have stayed at. The little touches like the honesty bar and the coffee machine in the room were good and just complimented the whole feel of the house. I can't recommend enough. Absolutely fabulous!

Our 3rd stay here last week.  Excellent stay once again.  Spotlessly clean and well presented. Comfortable and Modern style furnishings.  Nick and Margaret are brilliant at what they do ,very welcoming and friendly at all times.Breakfast is  the best  we've ever had too. Great position for woolacombe, a short drive away. Will always be our first choice when staying in this area .

A spotlessly clean and well-decorated guest house.  Room was very comfortable.  We were given a warm welcome when we arrived and that friendliness continued throughout our stay.   In a good position (albeit up a fairly steep hill!) with plenty of parking.  We will certainly stay there again when we next visit Ilfracombe.
