Great as usual! We’ve been here several times but met a member of staff we had never met before. A lovely lady. So friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was great. We love it here.

Brilliant, cosy inn with restaurant, and great rooms and Teapigs in the rooms… beats a cheap coffee sachet. The staff were really friendly, and my daughter and I loved our stay for two days climbing in the Lakes. The breakfasts are superb too.

Lovely warm and friendly hotel. Perfectly placed for walking in the central fells.We will return.

Fantastic couple of nights, lovely double aspect room, the whole place lovely and warm with log fires, very friendly helpful staff, and great food.

Obviously a very busy place for both lodging & food, The staff went over & above to make sure we were fed, okay It had taken a little longer than expected but the wait is worth it. The Hotel was impeccably clean & the room was comfortable and well laid out, the cleaners there do probably the best job I have seen to date (well done!) I would definitely stay again so my advise to anyone reading is don't hesitate it's a great place!

The hotel is in such a stunning area and the views are spectacular. The hotel room was very clean and had everything needed for a basic stay. It does need some modernisation (no USB sockets) and the pillows were very hard. I cannot fault the staff and especially Diane at breakfast who was so attentive and polite even though she was continuously in the go. The breakfast selection was excellent. We also had dinner one evening and the pie of the day was delicious. We found the experience very good and would stay again

Three night break

The location is absolutely breathtaking nestled in the heart of the Lake District, easy access to stunning walks. Staff were very efficient and friendly. Food was particularly good, impressive. Room was a bit chilly and shower not great, but you can’t have everything for such a competitive price. Bed was very comfortable.

Stunning Location

A lovely place to stay no doubt. We had a comfortable 3 nights stay. The staff were lovely. The location was amazing. The rooms were a bit small. We did have a cotbed but it could still be a bit bigger for the kind of hotel it is. The mattress were a bit on the harder side for our liking but it depends on what you are used to.The hotel was a bit too hot for the weather. We had to keep our window open slighly and turn off the room heating completely but it was still a bit hot as the lobby was very hot. But overall it was a memorable stay and i would go back again mainly just for the service and location.

Perfect base for walking Langdale hills. Staff very welcoming and friendly, especially Alan who saved the day helping charge flat car battery when leaving. Great breakfasts and evening meals to fuel for a day on the hill and nice cozy bar for the evenings. Comfortable rooms and Good value. Thoroughly recommend and many thanks to all the Staff

Perfect base for Langdale walks

Lovely hotel in a beautiful location. Food is good, both for breakfast and daytine/evening meals. All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.

Perfect spot for hiking in the Langdales.

We first stayed as a last minute thing in September when we decided to take on 9 Wainwrights! We loved it so much that we came back 3 weeks later to tackle another 8, and then booked to go again for my husbands birthday in December!!



Can't keep away!!

Great hotel and glad to say since it has been taken over has affordable room rates for a night away. Grounds gorgeous and lovely views from the outside seating area over Langdale. Breakfast was excellent with good quality produce. Diane is a gem helpful, efficient and always a smile on her face. My only mild criticism is lack of dinner choice but that could of been because it was Sunday. 
We shall be back hopefully soon.

Fabulous stay again

Amazing hotel lovely staff had a great night even the young man in charge made sure we were fed when it was late finn.one downside was breakfast I know they were busy but the young lady serving came across quite rude and ignorent rather than walk past customers just say we apologise for the delay and explain customers would understand.would not stop us staying there again amazing location amazing hotel just that one little downside 👍

We are repeat visitors to this hotel and we are glad that we went back. We arrived early, no problem leaving car. Had a loooong walk and came back to a warm Reception and a beautiful superior room. Spotless, nice space, nice towels and great shower. Restaurant was busy with large parties so kitchen had to shut, BUT spoke to Fin/Phin and was sorted! Found us a table that we liked and all evening checked that everything was okay. Thanks Fin! Fabulous sleep in a very, very comfy bed in a quiet comfortable,  dark room. 
Woke up ready for the delicious fresh breakfast that we were served, great food and great coffee. Wish that the young waitress could have been better - under staffed, yes, but please smile and apologise and welcome guests. The Spanish (?) Lady soon had the place organised with a huge grin. We will be back, you have an amazing hotel in a spectacular setting!

What a place!

Fabulous location at the foot of Stickell Ghyll in the Langdale Valley. Perfect for hikers. Food offering was rather unimaginative, however, with nothing for veggies or vegans. (Old Dungeon Ghyll 20 mins walk up the road offers a bit more variety). Dining room also rather gloomy - needs a makeover - while the walkers bar is a bit dominated by sport TV. Drying room for wet weather gear also not fit for purpose. But a great stay nevertheless.
