Hubby has stayed here a few times when doing refresher courses for his work so he received an email with a deal which was too good to knock back. Decided to book it for a few days for a family trip last July.
hotel is lovely and huge. 
Sits on the outskirts of the city, but doesn’t take long to get in.
has a swimming pool which was great for our wee girl as it meant we could go swimming both morning and early evening. 
Breakfast was great. Huge selection and really stocked well. 
We didn’t have dinner in the hotel deciding to eat down in the city. 
Rooms were nice, our room was a bit dated, but it was clean enough. Could be doing with a bit of revamp to modernise but still, it was ok and wouldn’t put me off staying again if I was to get it at deal price.

nice wee stay

We only stayed here one night, but I could stay here many more nights. Check in was so easy, and we were off to our room. The room was super clean, everything worked, the bed VERY comfortable. We decided to eat in the Hotel restaurant and I am glad we did. Service was excellent, and the food was as well. Breakfast the next morning was great. Selections were many and food prepared wonderfully. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Aberdeen.

Great place to stay, Staff was outstanding

Previously a Hilton and still in a decent state of upkeep post being taken over. We had a one night stay following a football game. Ate in the restaurant, food was good and arrived quickly, service was fine. Thereafter the experience let itself down as we went to the swimming pool which we’d pre booked only to be told there had been a muck up with the booking system and we could no longer swim…not a great experience and resulting in me leaving with a 5 year old in tears and an 8 year old upset :(

Decent hotel & restaurant….let down by service

The dinner experience was excellent. The food choice was extensive and our server Zara was really helpful cheerful and attentive throughout the evening. I had Hunters chicken which was delicious. We were not rushed, had plenty of space     at our table and surrounds. We had our water and drinks well topped up and the atmosphere added to the enjoyment of our evening. Zara sorted out the sharing of the bill with no problem at all.  I would highly recommend the Altens Aberdeen for lunch, dinner or just for a quiet drink.

Quality dinner

Great food & service.
We were a group of 6 at a work training event. Delicious evening meal (very good steak).
Our lovely waitress Zara was really helpful especially when we had to split our bill! 
The restaurant was busy but that didn't impact on service. Ruby was also very helpful with our Dalwhinnie 15 and cheeky wee merlot!

Fab food, fab service 

This hotel is well located for access to airport and the city. Great reception and check in. Very obliging staff. Superb arrangements for private dining for our group. Very well staffed bar and good breakfast. 
We are big fans and will return.

Restaurant service was a bit slow
Also no diet coke  Pepsi is not the same, had to bring my own diet coke to the wedding I was attending 
Value for money was good, maybe introduce a cocktail menu.

Just DON’T do it! No A/C. No electrical outlets by bed for sleep apnea machines! Their solution? A fan and an extension cord (think tripping hazard) stretched across the room! Is this the dark ages? What a liability. Who wants to navigate an extension cord like this in the middle of the night. Hated it!!!

Pool was nice, a little busy for us in the afternoon/ evening but much quieter early morning so we could have a proper swim but this set us up for the amazing breakfast that set us on our way.

Brilliant stay as always

I was travelling with out the kids this time so went for this spa hotel to treat me and my wife rather than our usual hotel chain, which was cheaper. However, it must be said that even though this hotel is more expensive, it doesn't cost as much as others.

I must admit I was surprised to find this venue in an industrial estate and, from what I could see, we were surrounded by warehouses and units so I'm not sure if there's any 'attractions' in the immediate vicinity (unless trucks and transporters are your thing!).

The car park was large and, when we arrived, had plenty of spaces and walking into the reception area, you'd be forgiven if you thought you'd booked into a much more expensive hotel!

It was very plush and had the Scottish theme throughout from tartans to pictures of highland scenery and it all had a 'quality' feel.

Checking in was painless and they had all my details ready for me to sign and get my keycard. On reflection, this was the only negative of my visit which I will explain later.

Our room was very nice with plenty of storage and hanger space and we even had 2 sofa chairs and a small table. There was a large TV in front of the huge bed, with Freeview, and the desk underneath incorporated a folding mirror which had the hair dryer. With the mirror folded down, the desk is really long with plenty of surface space to accommodate all of your needs.

I must also mention the addition of the Nespresso machine which came with 3 pods. A nice touch which I didn't have the time to try out - maybe next time!

The keycard is inserted into the 'reader' on the wall by the door which activates the power to the room (like most other hotel rooms) but having the single keycard meant if my wife and I went off to do separate activities, one of us would not have access to the room.

This became evident when I went to the Health Centre to use the gym and sauna the next morning whilst my wife had a lie-in. I had to wake her up so she could open the room door, several times as I went in and out.

The bed was very comfy and the pillows were soft and fluffy so I had a good sleep. Aside from a couple of occasions, I couldn't hear anyone else in our corridor or the adjoining rooms but, more importantly, my concerns about possibly being disturbed by lorries in the industrial estate proved misguided and I didn't hear anything from them either.

The gym is quite large by hotel standards and is open from 0600hrs, as is the pool and sauna. There is a staff member at the Health Centre reception where you sign in and out, and they will provide you with a towel if needed.

There's locker facilities but you need to have your own padlock if you want to secure your valuables although they will sell you one for £5 if you want.

Breakfast was nice with good quality food - typical cooked full English with black pudding and haggis available. Scrambled eggs are on the hot plate but staff will cook you poached and fried eggs to order.

I must admit I was slightly disappointed with coffee being in large flasks rather than the bean-to-cup machines available in other hotels but at least the coffee wasn't 'instant' and tasted good.

To be fair, there is such a machine behind the bar counter nearby and I'm sure, if I asked, they would've made me a coffee!

Pastries and croissants are also available as is some cold meats and cheese if you prefer a continental breakfast, or cereal and fruit and yoghurt to suit most people.

Check out was the quickest I've ever experienced anywhere - I literally confirmed my room number and handed over my room keycard and was on my way!

All in all, I quite liked this venue. All of the staff were very polite and helpful and the venue was very clean. The furniture and decor was good quality (solid wood tables and doors) and the soundproofing was excellent.

Unfortunately, I didn't ask about electric vehicle chargers although my app showed me there was one in the Shell station opposite the hotel and a Tesla Supercharging station slightly further up the road but I would like to see more hotels incorporating this at their venues for guests' convenience.
