My friends and I recently stayed here for a total of 3 nights, this is by far the best site we’ve ever stayed on. On clear nights we sat under the stars gazing into the sky. In the morning we walk up to the beautiful soothing songs from the birds. In the middle of the day we rested on the shores of the breathtaking waters of the lake. The manager ensured our rooms had light in the night, and our orders are taken. Our dishes were ready and served on time. 
If you value peace and tranquility with first-class camping facilities and extraordinary customer services, this is the place for you. Oh! my!  I can’t wait to return and the Wydder treehouse is a must stay!  Thanks, Johnson and your entire team for making us so welcome.

I stayed here for 1 night with my fiance and loved it! We spent time relaxing and walking around the island. The staff were really friendly and helpful (especially Evas). 
We enjoyed a beer by the fire on a evening and found the room very clean and relaxing to stay in. 
Would defiantly recommend a few nights here as it is the hidden gem of Lake Bunyonyi.

The place is awesome. We stayed at the tents and it was very comfortable, with no insects. Above all, the staff was amazing. We had some problems with the boat drivers, but Johnson solved all of them. We still had a very nice talk about politics and he answered all of our questions. Would definitely recommend. The only problem: there is something like a central office that controls the bookings made through apps and websites. This office (not the staff at Bushara Island) debited my credit card even though I still had time to cancel my reservation. When I wrote to them about it, there was no reply at all. I would recommend trying to talk to Bushara Island directly, and not through the app.

I visited this island camp with a group of 12 people and everyone was very happy about the service, location and accommodation. A beautiful boat trip takes you to a small island that is fully owned by Bushara Island Camp. We had a relaxing afternoon with swimming (there is a rope swing!), playing volleyball, birdwatching and having a good dinner. I would definitely recommend the tree houses or the tents for a special experience.

We stayed in a ‘treehouse’ with our three children which overlooked the lake. It had no mains electricity or wi-fi but had a solar powered light, nets, running water, flushing toilet and an outdoor shower. The safari tents looked really lovely and would suit couples or smaller groups. There is secure overnight parking on the mainland and a free motorboat transfer is included. 

The island is exceptionally beautiful and was a paradise for the whole family with numerous birds, swimming and a ‘Tarzan style’ rope swing into the lake which the kids loved. You can hire dugout canoes and we took a trip with a guide to nearby Bwama island and the old leper colony which was interesting. You can walk around the circumference of the island in a short time. 

The island has a very relaxed atmosphere atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful. Meals do need to be ordered in advance but were good when they arrived. Not all the items on the menu were available but with enough notice most things could be obtained. Evenings are pleasantly cool and there was a log fire every evening in the lovely covered dining area. Bushara was a highlight of our holiday and we will definitely return next time we are in Uganda. 

We had a unique experience because we were the only guests at the camp, hence the only guests on the entire Island.  It was a lovely relaxing stay.

Evas, the receptionist, was friendly and welcoming.  Anna, the cook, made delicious meals and accommodated our dietary restrictions.  The shared dining area is open-air and comfortable. There is a fireplace and they lit a fire at night, which created nice ambience. Hillary and Robert, the staff, were professional and helpful.  There is wifi in the dining area, but the signal is not strong.

The grounds are lovely - there are goats roaming the island and many different bird species to see in the eucalyptus forest.  We stayed in one of the tree-house cabins.  It was rustic for sure, but had an ensuite outdoor bathroom with running water and the staff brought us jerry cans of hot water to use to shower.   It also had a small deck with a view of the lake.

There is a 1.8 km trial that circumnavigates the island and is an easy walk.  It's a bit of a hike uphill to get to the main dining area where meals are served and back down to the tents and cabins.  The trail offers nice views of the lake and of surrounding islands.  There are docks and you can borrow a dug-out canoe or arrange a boat tour on a motorized boat. 

 We really enjoyed our stay - this is not a luxury lodge, but it was comfortable, affordable, and the staff made us feel at home.

Beautiful island retreat

We stayed two nights on this quiet, private island. The surroundings are beautiful with some nice trails.

The manager mr. Johnson, and Evas, one of the staff members, took good care of us. Evas has been there forever and she certainly is a keeper ❤ 

We enjoyed our stay, our safari tent was fine, however there is room for improvement: 
-the fridge was defect, so no cold drinks.
-no sockets in the public areas for charging.

Worth mentioning: 
-free and garded parking on the shore.
-free boat ride to and from the island.
-the crayfish wrap was delicious, and all dishes are generous. 
-competetive prices for the area.

All in all a good experience!

Quiet and relaxing

The island is a lovely quite place to retreat from the hustle of every day life, but the management of the facilities seems to have gone askew. We stayed in Dove Cottage which opens to a beautiful view of the lake and a cacophony of birdsong every morning. However, the room was dusty and the windows covered in cobwebs. The eco-toilet was a problem - very smelly at night as the bathroom has little air circulation overnight. The meals take a long time and the water dispensers arent checked or filled regularly. I got the impression the staff lacked direction and training. The manager was only seen on our last evening, so that may explain why its unravelling a bit there. However, some of the meals were quite tasty - the baked tilapia was very nice. 
The room wasn't cleaned after arrival, but you can request it I think. They don't keep a spare key at reception as far as I could see, so you have to go down there with staff if there's a problem in the room. We stayed 4 days and didn't manage to get a change of towels - go with your own if you like fresh ones regularly. The shower was hot but the shower curtain was stained and mildewed. The rest of our group stayed in tents and enjoyed it more.

Beautiful views, peaceful and serene. Poor service.

The accommodation is outdated and lacks a lot of maintenance. We found the rooms and bathrooms really dirty. Beds were uncomfortable, with cushions instead of pillows. Solar electricity was not working so there was no light. The restaurant has no fridge. 

The price of the accommodation does not correspond to the condition of the accommodation. We tried to ask for compensation but the manager flatly refused. We also had problems with the payment as they did not indicate that they did not have a credit card machine.

The staff - Evas - was very nice and tried to help as much as possible.

Much lack of maintenance

We went there from Edirisa Lodge (which I can highly recommend) by canoe over to bushara island for lunch. They have a full size restaurant and large menu.

However, they did not have any cold drinks- everything was warm. We waited 1 1/2 hours for our lunch and than got the worst food we had in uganda during the entire trip.

Just stay away!
