Diamond Village Pai

On arrival, you have to pay in cash. The receptionist speak very limited English, but with gestures you can get by. We hired mopeds via the hotel, costing 230b a day. You can get them cheaper in town for 100b a day, but for convenience we just got them there and then. They were in good condition. You have to leave your passport as a deposit, but this was returned promptly when handing back keys. The cabin was clean and spacious for 2 people. The site is located at the top of a big hill, it is about 15 minutes walk to walking street. The hill does have a lot of territorial dogs, but if you are on a moped they don't bother you. I would not recommend walking past these dogs as they did go for me. The breakfast was nice and freshly cooked. It consisted of either fried or scrambled eggs with sausages and ham along with fresh fruit and toast. There is also tea and coffee available. We stayed at the top right of the site (I am not sure whether this was to do with mother's Day weekend) the restaurant next door to the site, played very loud Thai music, until the early hours of the morning every night during our 3 night stay. If this is a regular occurrence I would recommend requesting a cabin on the left at the bottom of the hill, as this may shelter you from the noise. On checkout, the third party taxi that we booked did not arrive. The receptionist was very helpful and arranged alternative transport for us straight away. All in all we had a very pleasant stay here and would not hesitate to return.
