The hotel is not bad, the concept of accommodation on the river is cool. But one must remember a very important nuance, that the rooms are clogged almost all day with mosquitoes and other mosquitoes, so we do not forget about spray and other protection. Not bad, standard kitchen. This hotel, like several others located on the river, is mainly specialized in tourists visiting the excursion River Kwai. You should not expect to rest from the road, more from the hotel. The doors are thin, very good hearing. Air conditioning works, there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms.

There's no reason to stay more than a day.

The resort is kindda a siple and basic place...the raft rooms are on the river side..which is really nice..there have a balcony also..where you can just dip your legs in. The current of the river is quite strong..so be careful. The room is nice and spacious. .toilets are clean. The rooms on the land aint really anything special...outdated furnitures..but clean. Back in touch with nature. Staff are cool..breakfast so-so!

Originally and yet fantastic! Terraced houses right on the Kwai River. Woodland noises and well-kept plant with lots of botany! The outdoor restaurant with a view of the river, excellent.

Fascinating.

River Kwai Botanic Garden resort is about 165 km from Bangkok and 32 km from Kanchanaburi city. Need own transportation to reach there or you can pre-arrange a taxi (500/one way) from the resort to pick you up from Kanchanaburi city in case if you are arriving Kanchanaburi by public transport. (ex. Bus, Van or train from Bangkok). The resort is laid on a huge property with raft rooms, Jungle rooms. You won't find anything around the resort not even a single restaurant. The resort is clean, the raft rooms are spacious and clean toilet. Check-In and Check-out was smooth. The resort has a small swimming pool, a restaurant serving mostly thai food. The food taste is delicious though. If you are a late night eater then be reminded the restaurant kitchen closes at 21.00. The reception staff's are friendly but their English language will be put on test. The hotel can arrange tours around. Morning breakfast was basic just bread, butter,jam and in Egg just bullseye apart from some basic thai food (noodles, fried rice, Khao tom) and please make sure that if you are staying on a full occupancy days then eat your breakfast early about 7 to 8 am as many things get finished and they do not re-fill it. No WiFi atleast on raft rooms. Overall a basic resort, I have been to kanchaburi many times and stayed at different resorts which are away from city and close to saiyoke waterfall but this time we stayed here because  those resorts we stayed before were fully booked as it was a long weekend. So... Will I stay again? hmmm may be if I can't book my previously stayed resorts.

Nice , Clean and basic Resort!

we intended to stay for 4 nights in kanchanaburi and had booked this hotel due to its reviews. we made our way from bkk and had an awful experience getting to the hotel. when we rch kanchanaburi town, we realized that it was very far away out of the town center. we contacted the hotel but was annoyed that they dont speak too much english and we had to trouble a hotel staff to communicate with them. furthermore, they were not able to provide a transport to fetch us there. we made our way ourselves after some delays and efforts. hard day. 

it was almost evening when we reached and was jaded. we check in and was disappointed that they dont have any tour arrangement for guests and we felt locked in this outskirt area. the room is facinating as it was above the river kwai, we can see water flowing underneath. scenery was serene and calm, watching the sunset and there was nothing much to do from there. we had dinner at the restaurant, simple but a little pricy for the quantity. staff dont speak english as well. 

we decided to check out after a night and this was the costliest stay i ever had, having to pay the full 4 nights stay. anyway, appreciated that they assisted us to get a taxi out to the town center. i am not blaming the hotel for these inconveniences but i wanted to express my true review so that future tourists will not encounter such shock before they book this location. 

if you are not a local, and you are travelling free and easy without you own transportation, this is not a convenient place. it is not easily accessible without transportation, and they cant converse well other than thai. it might be nearer to the hellfire pass and nothing else.

out of the way

Nice resort with natural atmosphere. Most of room located on the river which make us feel calm and relax. Room facilities are fine and comfortable. Nice shower with hot water. Breakfast is also nice. Good location to go out for sight seeing tour. We are very impress with friendly staff and would like to go back again. 

Good location

Stayed at the River Kwai  Botanic Garden  Resort during a 4-day Khwae Noi River kayak descent in March 2013. We booked rooms on the raft. With the exception of a family we were the sole guests in this resort. This resort was a bit more expensive, but in our opinion of less quality than the Phung Waan Resort. 

The raft rooms had air-conditioning, refrigerator and television, but also here a limited choice of channels. The wardrobe smelled fusty and needed some aeration.  Beds were just a mattress on a wooden increase. The rooms had a nice balcony on the river. Wi-Fi was available in all locations. Rooms included breakfast, which was well served. Staff was very friendly and there was night guard.

Improvement possible

Hotel tres nice, employee tres nice not speaking very well English, bungalow on the river kwai extra, simple decor but extra with small terrace overlooking the river, and this is not the one I was most bitten by mosquitoes while we were at the water's edge. the pool is nice, we eat tres nice and really cheap, last meal before 22:00 after no one. not far from the river kwai bridge, swimming with elephants, the reception can take care of everything reserved. hotel above all, forced to have a taxi to move around and repair before it is impossible to leave the hotel.

Isolated

We're in the middle of nature by the water, maybe depending on the season it's different, personally we were in September and we had to cover every inch of skin many of my clients were covered with mosquito bites at lunch outside but it's resounding thanks to absolute calm and a good to be pleasant to live when you come from Bangkok or the noise crowd is non-stop.
