Shiyai Taoyuan B & B

My husband and i booked this room almost 4 days before travelling, and it was a lucky catch for us as they had last minute deal. The caretaker speaks English and is very helpful. Breakfast is provided, which is enough to fill your stomach before heading out to explore. A point to note is the place has a dog (Pittu) and several cats, all whom are friendly. However if you are scared or allergic to them, the caretaker will be happy to place them elsewhere in the house. The reception building overlooks a field, where you could set up camps. I would highly suggest you to get a nice hot cup of coffee/tea(pick you drug) and sit at the tables in campsite. The air is fresh and soothing for your lungs, especially for city girl like me. The room has comfortable large bed,fluffy pillows and blanket. There is heating panel for the bed as well as a quaint "fireplace" spouting warming hot air (which is controlled by 3 switches). Windows overlook a tea plantation as well as the mountain range. Being so close to nature, you can expect variety of insects. However, each room is well protected with wire mesh to keep them out. No direct sunrise/sunset view, but waking up to the sun tinged sky and mist covered valley is definitely something to look for. This place is about 5-10mins walk from Small Swiss Garden and Mist Plaza. Recommended to not walk out after 7pm as it gets veryyyyy cold and misty. The CingJing farm is uphill walk, but you can ask the caretaker for a lift to the entrance and walk downwards following several trails (u can get a copy of the map from the caretaker or the farm entrance). The caretaker is an absolute gem. He even helped us to arrange our ride back to Taichung after our wonderful 2 days stay.
