Reilly's Rock Hilltop Lodge

This was our second stay, it had been 9 years but it was still as lovely as we remembered. It’s old world ambiance in a fabulous setting.
The rooms a lovely and waking up and sitting on the veranda set the day to a perfect start. The grounds is like walking around in a magic garden, Red and blue Duikers, Steinbucks and turtles roaming around and plethora of birds dashing around.
Lizzy and Kani take such good care of the guests and they were equally professional and personal as they were 9 years ago.
We will definitely be back again.

Located on top of a hill in a Nature Reserve, surrounded by trees, flowers and huge ferns, very nice staff, lovely breakfast on the terrace and dinner buffet close to a warm fireplace - for us it was the perfect stay! 

The park is great for walks or bike rides. The Lodge is run by lovely ladies that are super welcoming and cheerful. Dinner at campfire with plenty of choices at the buffet.
The old, historic, building is well maintained.
We stayed at the down gran’s house and could join for dinner and breakfast at hilltop. 

My family and I stayed at Down Grans Cottage and it was absolutely awesome. Quiet, out of the way and absolutely beautiful. The house is quaint and the braai area is perfect. I would happily go back with friends and enjoy a week there as the game viewing is good and it is great that you can even go out on a run.

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves while  staying at Riley's Rock Hilltop Lodge.  The service, atmosphere and food were amazing. Having our dinner served by the fire while listening to bush-babies was especially memorable.   We hope to return and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a wonderful getaway.

WE spent a night with a group of customers in Reilly´s Hilltop lodge hidden in a lush forest in the middle of the natural park. You can drive your vehicle all the way to the lodge under the supervision of the local wildlife grassing couple meters from your path. The staff was amazing and we had an open air barbeque dinner with fire and it was fantastic. Overall 5 stars stay. The history of the place is also amazing.

This is a great place to stay when you visit Eswatini. It’s located in a nature reserve, on a hill with beatifull views. The garden is magical! See the little deers walking close when you enjoy your terrace. You can walk around in the tropical gardens. Dinner is served around the fire outside. The rooms are decorated in a luxury colonial style. Food and wines are very good, and home cooked. We have been here several times, and the staff is very friendly and personal. It is a good stop for a few days between StLucia and Kruger parc. 

A charming stay in this cool, lofty, former colonial house in Esawatini (formerly Swaziland).  We were greeted warmly by the resident staff Ruth and colleagues and given a quick tour. They did everything they could to make us feel at home.  Built in the 1900s for the eponymous Mick Reilly, whose larger than life exploits you can read about, it was a civilised pleasure after several days in and around Kruger. There are just 6 rooms and we got to know our fellow  guests well over dinner. The second night's dinner was outside around a log fire, magical.  Breakfast was lovely too.  Just one point, the staff wear rubber booties and leather hats for a reason.. up there in the mountains,  it has its own microclimate and can be wet. Still , sitting out on the veranda, watching the rain drip on the beautiful plants in the botanical garden and the duikers (Africa's smallest mammals) delicately eating was a memory to treasure. 

What a gorgeously preserved old home, with everything to do with that of life beautifully presented for your enjoyment. Ruth, who runs it, is a gem - nothing is too much trouble, and her cooking s wonderful. The rooms are so tastefully decorated with crisp, white linens and classical, original fixtures. We spent 4 nights and could barely leave - the views, birds and fawns all swarm around the house while you look out over the valley. I cant recommend this enough to anyone who wants to relax, and step back in time.

The lodge is a bit difficult to find and to get to.  I suggest you have an suv not a sedan since the dirt road you will take to the lodge is deeply rutted in places.  But once you reach the lodge it is worth the trip.  We stayed in the 2 bedroom garden cottage.  The cottage is encircled by a wide veranda.  You enter into a common lounge with a rustic fireplace.  The lodge is beautifully decorated and is a short stroll from stunning views of the valley below.  Dinner is included and is served around a crackling fire inviting conversation with your fellow guests.  We enjoyed the company of 2 Swiss families.  There was no shower and getting in and out of the free standing bathtub could be challenging if you are not able bodied.  Breakfast was made to order and served on the terrace with glimpses of the valley.  Guinea hens and other birds and small deer wander the grounds.
