Hotel Trinco

I originally intended to stay for only a few days, but ended up staying for much, much longer. A great hotel, with an incredibly friendly, helpful and kind owner. I don't understand some of the reviews here saying they found him rude. From the moment I arrived he did everything he could to make me feel welcome and at home. The breakfast is delicious, and included in the (very reasonable) price of the room. The rooms are large and airy, with double beds. The location is ideal, a few minutes walk from the beautiful Uppuvelli beach, and a 10 minute tuk tuk to the centre of Trinco. Wesley the owner helped arrange everything for me, and really went out of his way to make sure my time in Trinco was as good as it could be. I left thinking of him as a friend.  I really highly recommend this hotel, one of the best places I have stayed in Sri Lanka. Great experience.

Hotel Trinco is a lovely place to stay. I can't express how helpful the staff are. It may need a lick of paint in places but the hotel itself is spacious with comfortable beds, and is located about 15mins walk from the beach. Unfortunately I was ill while we were in Trincomalee, so while my friends went to the beach for the day I stayed back feeling sorry for myself. In the afternoon when I was able to stand I went downstairs and asked for some dry toast, which I was given without any problems along with a ginger tea, which Wez, the owner, assured me would help ease my tummy. Not only this but Wez also, unknowingly to me, organised for someone to go to the shop and get me a bag of Rusk biscuits so that I could nibble on them over the afternoon to keep my strength up, so thoughtful! We then chat for remainder of the afternoon. When my friends returned Wez then organised for us to be driven around in his wonderfully classic Austin Cambridge car to see some local sights and on our return his brother made dinner for us too (although disappointingly for me I could not eat it and stuck to my Rusk biscuits, but it looked completely delicious and my friends confirmed to me that it was). In all Hotel Trinco was perfect for our needs and was made all the better by Wez and his staff. I would absolutely recommend Hotel Trinco as a place to stay in Trincomalee.

Couldn't recommend more highly!

Stay at Trinco!

We've spent one night in this guesthouse and it was allright, after the arrival difficulties. We wanted to take a shower but there was no water running in our room, so manager took us to other bathroom, where it should definitely work. Did not. The third was with running water, but so dirty and with a "nice" frog included, that we rather passed. 
Otherwise it was very good, the room was clean, the manager was english, which caused perfect communication and speed of solving things such as breakfast package, which we got in the morning.

Very nice except for the arrival

We checked into this hotel yesterday morning. We were already a bit hesitant about going here as we saw the bad reviews. Even our tuk tuk driver said the hotel was pretty bad. The room we are staying in is really basic, with a toilet and bathroom in the hallway. Though the drama started this morning. We had to have our breakfast while standing in the dark. The owner told us we would get an omelette, but when I asked he simply replied 'we don't do that here'. When we asked for the busnumber to Colombo he said 'do you think I know that? I'm not a bus owner'. To conclude, we had to leave the hotel in a hurry for our snorkeling trip, but he insisted that we had to pay for the extra bed right there and then, whilst we really didn't have the time.

We feel really uncomfortable in this hotel and I can't recommend it at all.

Rudest hotel owner I've ever met

We had book two nights with bathroom in the room and air conditioned and when we arrived the cheaf said to us that there was a room for the first night and another room for the second one. Both the rooms haven't bathroom inside but only outside of the room...only one room had air conditioned. I was angry with the cheaf and he gave to us breakfast  (that was not included) and less price for the second night. The cheaf teasing me many times and didn't say simply sorry. The hotel was very dirty and the price very expensive compared to others hotels much much better for the same price...very bad experience
