Our stay at "Ganga Addara" at Kudakalliya granted us a host of unforgettable "first time" experiences ; showering outdoors beneath a sky full of stars, sharing our rooms with cute little froggie friends, seeing an elephant bathing contentedly from our balcony, the friendliest doggies guiding us towards the beach, enjoying the  beauty and tranquility of the lagoon from just across our bedroom - to name a few. 

The rooms were simple, comfortable and wonderfully cool in the early mornings and evenings. The afternoons were rather hot though and the host informed us that they were planning to install air conditioning in the rooms.

The staff - Murali, Dilshan and the rest were professional, hospitable and always glad to oblige. The food was delicious too!

Looking forward to visiting again!!

Our stay was calm and peaceful. The staff were excellent and multitasked to attend to our every need or request. The food was delicious a blend of both traditional Lankan or western. The leisurely walks on the beach accompanied by the dogs both morning or evening was therapeutic. The property overlooks an island reserve Elephants often visit to feed and can be observed from the specially erected viewing platforms. A canoeing around the island and stopping to view the Elephants was a highlight. Easy access to town.

We were there for 4 wonderful days (3 nights), with a group of about 14 friends, at the Sayura bungalow. 
The upper deck is open, so that’s where I chose to sleep (two large double beds & a sitting area), with a lovely breeze blowing through. 
The rooms are comfortable, extremely clean, toilets & showers are good. 
The food was awesome! I love Sri Lankan food and they do that so well! We also had a really good bbq one evening. 
You can bring your own supplies & they will cook it for you, or tell them, in advance, what you’d like, & they will do the shopping as well. 
Surfing lessons were organised. Spent a lovely day shopping in town. 
Every morning, there were elephants in the river behind the bungalow, such a joyous way to start the day. Took my coffee up to the deck on the water tower to enjoy the sunrise & elephants!
As always, when you’re having a good time, the holiday was too short. 
Hope to revisit next year!

We had elephants in the garden, woke to the sound of the peacock and other wonderful birds,  climbed Kudimbigala, visited the Hindu temple at Okanda, saw crocodiles, many different kinds of stork, kingfisher and bee-eaters already on the way to Kumana National Park - oh, it was simply wonderful.
The food was delicious, cooked by the friendly staff; either we went to the market in Arugam Bay (which was an adventure in itself), bought the fish and prawns from the fishermen on the beach or asked the staff to do the shopping for us.
We simply loved it and would have liked to stay much longer. As we couldn‘t, we‘ll hopefully be back next year.
Thanks to the staff and the management for keeping the place such a treasure in its natural surroundings.

It was such a lovely experience. You have to pass the bay to find the Kudakalliya road to the left/beachside. We stayed at Ganga Addara chalet. Kudakalliya is closer to the crocodile rock, and you can walk to the rock within five mins. Our chalet has two queen-sized beds, one single bed and two bathrooms. And a colossal terrace opens to the river view. It is a two-story chalet, ideal for friends or family. 

The highlight of the place was the food. The caretaker, Murali, cooks fantastic food, especially Sri Lankan dishes. He never disappointed us. Kudakalli is not air-conditioned, but it was alright for us. We loved the experience, even though it's a little bit far from the Arugambay centre, that didn’t occur to us as we were enjoying the serenity of Kudakalliya.

Kudakalliya is one of kind place with ocean, river, jungle all combined in close proximity. It is one of the best places in Arugam bay area. There are three bungalows from which you can choose and customize your stay. The service is very good and the food lovely!

Stayed here in December with family and I must say from the point of calling up to inquire about the place the service was topnotch .. Situated in an absolutely beautiful setting on the border of Arugambay we stayed in the Ganga Addara chalet . It was perfect  for a small family ! Murali and co at the property were so attentive to every little details and the service was exemplary! Every food item served was really tasty and authentic ! We are so grateful to have found this hidden gem of a place. We  can’t wait to be back !

Kudakalliya was another amazing and fabulous vacation. It was so relaxing and with friends who are family, it was a perfect get away. The beautiful walks on the beach and just lazing around in front of our rooms looking into the Hada oya and the wild elephants bathing, playing and just there a few meters away was simply beautiful! 

The service and the staff are excellent, just like all their other properties and are so warm, kind, friendly and welcoming and always ready to help and assist..... complimented by amazing food too just the way we want it prepared!  

We did a full day safari to Kumana National Park which is about 40 mins from kudakalliya. The park was beautiful as it was our first time in about 20 years..... we had excellent extremely close sightings of leopards and elephants and since it was just our jeeps, it was so peaceful watching the leopards play and be so clam in their territory.... being ardent leopard fans.... it was indeed a memorable visit and spending an hour each approximately with the leopard and cub and then a big male (seperate sighting within 10 mins of leaving the mother and cub) was just beyond amazing !

This August, we spent almost a week basking in east coast vibes.  There were 14 of us, in all shapes, sizes, colours and demographics (kids, millennials, global citizens, proud Lankans). We spread across the 2 bungalows with barely a bed space free, living a communal life and yet we were never crowded. This and so much more, is part of the  magic of the magnificent destination experience that is Kudakalliya. Here’s why we say THANK YOU:

Destination: We could wake up to panoramic ocean views of sunrise across Elephant Rock and watch the sunset gloriously over the lagoon that surrounds Crocodile Rock.  In terms of setting, this is several postcards and selfies waiting to happen. There is no better spot to base for a true east coast adventure, we all felt that.  The town and the happening A-Bay strip is a mere 10 minute tuk-tuk ride away.  So we could frequent the couple of open bars, enjoy the Main Point calmer waters and still rush back whenever we wanted, to our private paradise of Kudakalliya.  The long walk to the Elephant Rock surf point is completely worth it, the sea is glorious, particularly in the mornings.

Food: We had planned to go out for lunch, occasional dinner but after a day of the Kudakkaliya hospitality, it seemed an unnecessary chore (and cost) when we were being taken care of in style.  The freshest local vegetables and seafood, prepared with care and representing the best gourmet flavours of our ancient spice island.  I’m a foodie, and proud to say that the Sri Lankan flavours on offer here do justice to the authentic, culinary footprint of our island. It's not just the local fare - add scrambled eggs to your curry brekkie and make sure you squeeze in a bonfire and BBQ night! 

Sleep – Some rooms are AC, some not. All are spotlessly clean and kept that way, throughout our stay, in the most unobtrusive of manners. There’s nothing to complain about and plenty to love, from open plan rooms with spectacular views to strong showers with hot and cold waters. It’s not 5-star because it’s not trying to be, but Kudakalliya is a class act none the less.

Staff – Love, accommodating, smiling and proud of their destination experience.  Haritha Collection (the brand parent of Kudakalliya) can teach a lot to the local hospitality industry, on how to maintain the right combination of discipline and friendliness. There was no request that was denied, including an urgent callout for beer…

Experience: It’s a different world, and a different life on offer. One that is so well managed that all you have to do is turn up, and leave the rest to Kudakalliya Bungalows.

We were lucky enough to be recommended this place by a friend and it was incredible. Set just outside the bay on a wild beach walking distance ( paddling) to the most stunning sunset point in the area. You can even walk to the surf point crocodile rock. The accommodation was very comfortable and all the staff were fantastic. Really can speak more highly of it I will definitely be coming again. Tharani who booked us in was also very helpful as we had a lot of children to accommodate in our group. Thanks again and apologies for the delay in reviewing.
