We traveled to Anuradhapura by train and had already visited two other places (one was fully booked and the other one had only one room left which didn't look nice and was a bit smelly). As we arrived the owner seemed to be away but his (as we assumed) son showed us two rooms. One on the first floor which could be booked with A/C (2000 LKR + 500 LKR for A/C) and one on the second floor with just the fan (2000 LKR; no option for A/C). We took the one on the second floor for two nights since we thought the terasse there looked nicer. Unfortunately since this was the top floor it got really hot in the room during the day (maybe this wouldn't be like that in the first floor). Besides that the room itself was alright - nothing to fancy - like you would expect it for that price. There's a mosquito net in the room and you have your own bathroom with a hot shower (We assumed that their water tank stands directly in the sun, since the water was totally hot in the afternoon, couldn't even wash our hands properly until it cooled down a few hours later. If the tap water is coffee again you can use the instantaneous water heater...). Breakfast costs 450 LKR per person and includes coffee or tea, a fruit platter, toasts and jam and a fried egg with a few small sausages. You can rent a bike for 300 LKR per day.
