M House

On a quiet lane near the UNESCO sites and even closer to large lake, M HOUSE offers a clean, comfortable, well-appointed respite to any traveler. The food is plentiful and excellent. The owner’s knowledge of the area is deep and broad and willingly shared. We are thankful to have found this place. You will be too.

We absolutely cannot speak more highly of M House. We stayed with Manjula for the first two nights of our honeymoon and are so glad we did. Manjula was incredibly helpful even before we arrived in Sri Lanka (assisting us in arranging taxis) and from the moment we arrived at M House we were made to feel at home, served with delicious Sri Lankan food and helped with all aspects of our stay in Anuradhapura. The space is beautiful with three balconies looking over the surrounding area and a very comfortable four-poster bed. All very authentic and charming and most highly recommended. 

Very good place for night, rich breakfast they given with delicious foods. Very friendly people they are living with us.. good experience with local life.. Manuja is very talented guide. He will explain everything about ancient city and places

Me and my girlfriend absolutely loved this place.  The room is really beautiful with a 4 poster bed with mosquito nets and two balcony areas to hand out and look at the nearby fields.  We received many very special welcomes in Sri Lanka, but none as warm as that from Rona who really wanted to make everything as perfect as possible - which she did.  Rona arranged bikes for us to see all the main sights and provided recommendations for dinner.  And (i am writing this at the end of our 2 week trip), we voted this as THE best breakfast in Sri Lanka and that is no mean feat.  An amazing array of delicious foods, served on the balcony - so perfect.  Only sad we couldnt have stayed longer.  Many many thanks Rona and Majula and family

We stayed with Manjula and his family for 2 nights. We arrived late and quite tired after plane delays and he was there to meet us and pick us up (free of charge) at the train station which was the first of his many kind gestures. The room was spacious, clean and on the privatised top floor with 2 outdoor patios to relax in. The breakfast was great and was different each day (Man asked us what kind of breakfast we preferred- Sri Lankan/Western and even drove out at 7 in the morning to buy us coffee!). Our second morning we had a long early run and we woke up to find snacks,tea and coffee set out on the table for us. For the day time he set us up with bikes and a great hand drawn map of the better less touristy sites to explore. Incredibly, thoughtful hosts thankyou so much :-) 

We spend there 2 days at the and of our holiday and this was the best accommodation in Sri Lanka we've been in 3 weeks! AC in bedroom and the whole first floor for ourself. 

Manju and his family are so friendly and we felt so welcome. One day we made a national parc tour and had to get up at 5am. He stand up earlier than 5am to make us a lunch package! What a service!

Wish we could give this Accommodation and family 10 stars!!
