This venue would even be better in summer. Great area to walk, riparian accommodation, wine estate with a km, Stanford is a great village. Unfortunately, like many venues, repairs and maintenance are lacking. Thought that over the "lockdown" period, they would have attended to the pop-up plug in the washbasin [stuck with no washer], leaking shower door, etc.

Tranquil and peaceful

This was our second trip here, and needless to say, we were not disappointed. We visited Stanford River Lodge just about two years ago and have been wanting to come back ever since. Our second stay in the Fisheagle suite was just as romantic and unforgettable as the first and the view was as breathtaking as ever. We can't ever get enough of it. The privacy, self-catering facilities and value for money are unbeatable. Juanita is the best hostess ever-most accommodating and easy going, she always makes a plan for exactly what we need. If any couple needs a breakaway from city life and some quality R&R, this is ideal. Highly recommended.

Luxury, Nature and Romance- Part two

One of our favorite spots, we always stay in the same room and come back at least once per year. It is right on the river and when you sit o the patio you can see the sun rise over the mountains. Super fireplace and electric blankets to ensure you are warm int eh winter.

We spent three nights in the Sunbird room at the beginning of our holiday. The room was clean and quiet, the unspoiled view of nature unique. We enjoyed the peace and the wide view. Juanita is a friendly and attentive site manager, John a pleasant and knowledgeable host and owner. We will be back in spring. Cheers, Birgit & Chris

A relaxed start

Very good self catering apartment in excellent location. Wonderful views, loads of birds but not too far from restaurants and other amenities. Valda and Juanita couldn’t have been more helpful both before and during or stay and Juanita cooks a mean buttered chicken.

Birds on the doorstep

I spent 2 nights at the lodge. I needed a weekend away from work in Cape Town. This was an outstanding place to stay. Juanita, the property manager, was on hand to greet me and show me around and make recommendations. She could see I needed some time to relax and made sure I had what I needed and then left me to my own devices. The location is one of the best I have visited - right on the river but still close enough to town for a meal.  The room was clean and well-appointed. Please note that you need to bring your own toiletries. There is limited TV but it is not needed; the birds on the river are quite entertaining. There were several periods of load-shedding and there is no back up generator so be prepared during the load shedding season. The location is truly spectacular and there is a lot of space to stretch your legs.  In addition, it is very, very reasonably priced! I will be back!

Relaxing and beautiful on the river

We recently spent two nights here as part of our stay in SA. Everything was great, from the cleaniness of the rooms and fantastic location, to the welcome and attention given to us by Juanita, the manager, who made sure we were comfortable and knew what facilities were nearby. Super!

Fab accommodation next to Klein River

Spent 3 nights here on route to Plett.  Very impressed with lodge and surrounding activities- local wine farms and coffee shops plus mountain bike trails provide more than  enough entertainment.  For those that just want to relax - the hosts are prepared to cook for you at the lodge

Beautiful BNB looking onto the River

Our family group of 20 had a fantastic 2019 Christmas at Stanford River Lodge. One word comes to mind and that is "tranquility".

The rooms are spacious and staff very friendly.

We had a fantastic time and would hopefully do this again in December 2021!

Fantastic 5 nights next to the Klein River

We've been visiting the Stanford River Lodge regularly for years, and it's always very beautiful. We like the quiet and dreamlike location right by the river. Canoes are ready to paddle the river for free. Manager Juanita is very friendly and cares for guests with love. The Kingfisher Suite has a beautiful view of the well-maintained garden and the river. We'll definitely come back and thank Juanita and the team.
