L'Esperance Hotel

Always nice to stay here, Have been staying here for conference weekends for the past 10 years. Staff always gets us what we need and rooms are well equipped for cooking and hanging out after a long day.

We took our friend to the hotel and he had no hot water in his room.  Otherwise that I love the hotel as our 1st night in St Marteen before our timeshare starts on Saturday.

Worked well for our one day scheduled lodging.

Meticulously clean and well run hotel with extremely friendly and accommodating staff in a local's neighborhood, outside of tourist area.

Clean and charming with a pretty patio and pool.

The staff were very sweet and helpful.  The hotel is located in more of residential area.

Loved it !!!! Place was perfect close to all the things u will need.

The hotel was great. Pool was much appreciated. Great local breakfast place within a 2 minute walk and full service, great food restaurant within 7 minute walk, however no sidewalks and sometimes lots of traffic on road to restaurants.Hotel was clean, well kept and staff very friendly and helpful in arranging tours of the island.You can walk to Divi Beach, but not pleasant - too hot and again no sidewalks and takes more than 20 minutes to get there if you don’t take a wrong turn in the roundabout!But for the price, L’Esperance was well worth it especially pre or post cruise, where you will be doing all your beach lounging at your island destinations.

Great pre/post Cruise hotel

Reasonable priced.  Staff is friendly and helpful.  This hotel is off the beaten tourist track.  We stayed here one night before boarding a self chartered sailboat, and we stayed another night after returning from our charter before going to airport to return home.  This worked well for us because we were not really interested in other tourist attractions.

The room was clean and adequately provisioned. Staff very friendly and accomodating. They arranged for a rental car which was delivered right to the door. There are two grocery stores close by. One is a half block away and a larger one is a five min walk. We walked to Philipsburg on two occasions. The first jaunt was definitely longer!  The swimming pool and grounds are well cared for.

Quiet and conveniently located

So this place is very interesting i must say, I have stayed her a handful of times and the staff is always pleasant. There is a pool available which i only used once because i am not a lover of swimming. There is a big bed and a nice living in in the rooms. However, the place needs a facelift. If you are in the downstairs room, the guest on the top floor can be very disturbing as you hear every foot step and any other happenings.  The rooms are always clean.

A Home away from Home?

I love the rooms especially the 2 bedroom rooms where you feel at home outside of your home. It's clean and as skeptical as we are as a family, my skeptical children loved it (Wonder where they got that from :-) ) We literally had no complaints. It's close to supermarkets and the sports center, which our children love!!! 

Relaxing and clean

Clean, friendly staff, well-kept, very nice decor, centrally located, comfortable. Everyone always tried to help us and always with a smile. It also has a very clean salt water pool. Rooms have a kitchenette. It's sort of out-of-the way, and even some taxi drivers hadn't heard of it or had trouble finding it. But you won't regret staying here. Close to two food stores and one fantastic restaurant (Mark's Place), which are within 5 min. or so walking time. Garden areas are impeccably kept and maintenance staff are always on the job. Be prepared for a noisy generator that kicks in once in a while for a few minutes during the day. This is only a problem with some rooms. We never heard it the first time we stayed, but we heard it the next time (room 106). And we loved the crowing roosters. Also a few barking dogs now and then. Otherwise, very quiet. Air conditioned bedroom and a fan in the living room.

Loved this off-the-beaten-path hotel.

Very clean, comfortable and the staff are so friendly and inviting they were like my brothers and sisters,  this is not a negative just. Suggestions for the owner please add continental breakfast to the package,  the sleep is so comfortable you have to get really hungry to leave the place for food.  Thanks we enjoyed OUR stay and yes we will return and sure to tell friends and family about this hotel

This is an older hotel, in a classic style.   It is maintained well and the cleaning staff is dedicated.

We have stayed here many times and any couple we bring is pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the place is.

Rooms are roomy, kitchenette lets you do some food prep, you can walk to a no-frills grocery store or drive a short distance to Carrefour.

Pool is beautiful plus there are multiple place to sit, relax and enjoy the many views.

Samantha and Sharon at the front desk are a pleasure to deal with, but honestly everyone here seems to be interested in hosting your stay. 

Yes the building is older, I think the one thing that you have to get the knack for is the hot water in the shower...get wet, turn it off, lather up and then turn it on again to rinse or you’ll run out of hot water.

As another reviewer pointed out they clean so hard here that you likely could eat off the floor.  There is always someone working on maintenance as well, patching, painting, replacing cedar roof shingles etc so that it looks cared for.

If you want comfort, want clean and don’t need all the frills then this is your place.



Clean, cheerful, quaint, comfortable 

We enjoyed our stay at this lovely property.  The apartment was very nice - great furnishings, a microwave, full frig and two burner stove top.  All kitchen utensils and pots/pans were provided.  We were very comfortable with the combination of an A/C unit in the bedroom and a large fan in the living area.  The property is not on the beach but it has a beautiful pool with lounge chairs and shaded tables/chairs.  L'Esperance is within walking distance of a Carrefour supermarket.  We enjoyed this quiet and relaxing property.

Great apartment hotel

Missed our cruise in St. Thomas due to weather. Needed a room on St. Maarten on very short notice. Found L'Esperance on Hotels.com the night we were leaving while we were eating dinner at DFW airport waiting to catch our flight.We arrived late at night. It was dark, the neighborhood was sketchy though we never had an issue. The room was on the second floor. There is no elevator nor is there a bellman. We had to carry our three suitcases and two carryons up the stairs to our room.There were two rooms plus a bath. The front room was very large and nicely furnished but was not air conditioned. The bedroom had a king bed and was fine and it did have an air conditioner that worked fine, except we had just turned it on when we arrived so it took a while to cool down the room.The hotel itself is very nice, with a court yard, flowers and very pretty landscaping.We enjoyed our stay but felt fellow travelers should know about the neighborhood, lack of elevator, and limited air conditioning.For the price it was a great value. It served our purpose of a room for one night before catching a cruise ship.
