Casa Chira

We had an amazing time at Casa Chira. The place is traditional, very clean, the rooms are confortable and the host is amazing. Ana is a vreat person, she brings you fresh pastry every morning, tells you stories about Maramures, recommends you places to visit and makes you feel like home . The house has an amazing garden, big and clean, many places where you can chill and enjoy a glass of wine, or you can go to the river.

I had a wonderful four-night stay here. The house and garden really capture the architectural style and charm of the region, complete with a traditional Maramureș gate and water well.
The room was spacious, cool in the summer weather, really comfortable and modern while also having some traditional elements in the decor.
It was lovely to have a verandah to sit out on and look out across the garden. There is also a downstairs kitchen that guests can use.
Ana very kindly told me about the local history and made sure I got to see a Midsummer night tradition that happened to be taking place down the road - burning torches being whirled around in the air! A traditional and rather spectacular end to a stay that certainly gave me the Maramureș experience I had been hoping for. My sincere thanks to Ana!


We spent 3 lovely nights at Casa Chira. Everything was perfect. There are a lot of cozy spaces where you can spend your time or have romantic dinner. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. The staff is very kind and friendly. There is a fully equipped kitchen available. The parking is free and safe, inside of private property. In the back yard is the river which offers nice views. We really recommend this location. 

Everything you need is there. Including scenery. 

Beyond that, reach out ahead of time and seek for some great recommendations Mrs. Chira has to offer. It will definitely enhance your overall experience.

Wow! This is the best place I have ever been in Romania! Forget about Bucovina, visit Maramures and while you are doing that, stay at Casa Chira, you won't regret it! The house, the views and the host will make you feel like in a dream story. It will get you back to your roots, reminding you that you are on this planet. to leave, love and be happy. The host is amazing, she is the heart and soul of the place! The accomodation is great, you will find every thing you need for cooking, barbeque and relax.All the atractions are closed to the house, driving the car to them will be a delight. Don't miss this house and it's host!

I recommend it for anybody))) from couples up to families. Ann - household is incredible! Comfort is super vs Price. My daughters played with cat, we had chcance to prepare food. Casa chira is only 1 km away from Mocanita - local attraction)) plus on Sundays there is local bazaar with fresh food 500 m from it. We will come back. Thanks Ana for everrything

Here we decided to stay for three days, what was the longest we stayed anywhere in Romania. It was nice, the host was great, she told us everything we wanted to know and more. She gave us a few pointers what to see and where to go and we didn't regret listening to her.

We spent two nights at Casa Chira and really enjoyed our stay. Ana, the host, is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. She offered helpful tips for our stay, made sure we had everything we needed, and even loaned us a hiking map for an excursion we took. Our bedroom was simple, but very comfortable and spotless. Breakfast was exceptional and well worth the small extra cost - lots of great local cheese and other treats, the jam-filled pancakes Ana cooked one morning were an extra treat, and there was so much food that we were well fueled well past lunchtime both days. The only small negatives are that the road to get there (just the last 400 meters) is a dirt road in rough shape, and the shower was a little awkward to use with nothing to hold the shower head and no shower curtain. Those were minor inconveniences, though, and didn't detract from our great experience. Overall, our stay was incredibly comfortable and enjoyable and a great value.

First, Ana, the host, is a walking encyclopedia! She knows Maramures by heart and generously shares amazing stories with the guests staying at her house.The house in itself is rustic (preserves the traditional features of the area), but at the same time meets the modern accommodation standards. The rooms are spotless clean, the dining area is warm and cosy and the breakfast is simply delicious. The outside sitting area features a bbq and a large, green courtyard.
