Vila Varpatak

Gheorgheni

Short stay at Varpatak Villa, only for two nights. Small but nice, tidy and clean room equipped with a bathroom of it's own. The construction is made entirely of wood, which we liked a lot.
The villa makes a great place to spend a longer weekend. It is located in the proximity of the Gheorgheni town (1,5 km to the north-east), on a small hill with a lot of fir trees and beautiful nature around it. The pension has a big yard with a small river and it is equipped with a barbecue place, with playgrounds for kids and with a quite big parking area (~10 cars).
The breakfast was truly generous and the host provided us with home-made jams and teas, which we really liked.

Good, nice place

Lovely cottage with great view, very nice owners open to help and make you feel good. Great for little kids (2 and 5 yo) with super friendly dog and cat. Close to important sightseeing places (Lacul Rosu, Cheile Bicazului). Perfect balance between price and offer.

Perfect 2 days stay in beautiful landscape

It is a wooden house with a somewhat peculiar access (non-asphalted street) but in a charming natural setting. The owner welcomed us very kindly, with a sweet and homemade alcoholic beverage. It is very attentive and serviced. We were prepared a homemade dinner. It seems that you are part of their family, you can use their kitchen, the living room and has a very nice garden and a very nice dog. Good food and very relaxing environment. It is about 35' of the Red Lake. The Internet does not work very well. It has parking.

Enchanting family house.

The second stay in Romania.Eva and her husband are very hospitable,the breakfast is regional,loving and good!You can see that the hosts are not professional.The room was somewhat sparsely furnished,there was some furniture from Germany,something old-fashioned.I thought the price was a bit too expensive.Driving through the countryside,but adventurous but ok.There are animals,but healthy.Very nature-connected,quiet and idyllic.

Warm hosts

We arrived in the evening on a snowy day, but it wasn't difficult to find it (with Google maps on our side), though the road (1 km) is a bit challenging. The vila is very warm, cozy and full of life. Eva and Arpi welcomed us with a delicious "afinata" (sweet, strong alcoholic drink, made of alcohol and handpicked blueberries) and a local cake. Since I already got at the food part, breakfast is freshly cooked in the morning, delicious and heavy (as you need on a winter day in the mountains). We also got to have dinner there and though I'm not a sour soup fan, that one was surprisingly tasty. 

Both Eva and Arpi are story tellers and these will be hours of human connection that you won't regret, getting to know the local culture, mentality and sometimes history. 

However if you're a couple looking for a romantic escape, I'm not sure if this is the place, because the vila is thought as a house for a big happy family, so no keys to the bedroom and you can any noise. 

All in all it was a really pleasant experience and I'd go back there in the summer as well :)

Cozy and welcoming home in the middle of nature

Stayed here for a pit stop. Hostess was very accommodating even though she spoke little English. Room was very cozy and had fun playing with their dog. Had an hour's walk behind the house to get a beautiful view on top of a small hill. Even managed to get close to a horse along the way 

Lovely accomodation with walking access to beautiful views

Great location immersed in nature, run by a couple of fantastic people, who do their best to make you enjoy a vacation in a place still unspoiled by nature, rustic place that takes you back in time, where you can taste genuine things made directly by Mr. Arpad and his consorts.
