The pension Franca is well center on Praça Gomes, near the great Igreja do Carmo covered of the famous blue ceramics. The public transport stops close by, the city center is walkable and in front is the University. My room was small under the roof section but organized, even with a small sink. The place is clean, quiet and well run. The ladies are kind and very helpful for any needs or directions you want to go. They directed me to a nice and economic restaurant close by. Very pleasant staff, allow bag storage if early or after check -out.  You are in middle of everything, excellent location.

The owner, Marina, is a tremendous source of tips and good information.

Cozy and comfortable structure, located in a strategic area in front of the Rectorate of the University of Porto, the Pensão França was really a very pleasant surprise. The friendly and helpful staff, a very high level of cleanliness, the comfort of the beds and the functionality of the bathroom made our stay truly unforgettable. The WI-FI signal is also excellent. A wide selection of restaurants in the area. Really recommendable

What was good:Very central, everything worked well, nice view on the square, clean. What was bad:very loud outside, old furnishing and rooms. All in all a good place to stay if you can sleep in a noisy environment.

The place is older, somewhat tired, and the shower is shared amongst the guests (which is an issue for some).  Good location and price.  Wifi was good. Must walk up a flight of stairs to get to the hotel.

Stayed for two nights, each morning woke up to discover we had been bitten by bed bugs, second morning was worse that the first.
I'd never stay here again and I advise everyone to give it a miss.

Central location, easy access to the historical center of Porto

The bed was very uncomfortable and the room was a sauna. if we wanted to lower the curtain we had to do it manually, come on, with our hands because there was no cord. they heard the drains. the shower had a yellow spot on the floor and it was bad. we only had a grill. the attention was just because we ourselves had to grab the key because we didn't get up. otherwise everything was fine. we were at the 21st. you value the location, it's wonderful because you have everything in your hand. for a couple of nights it's more than enough.
