We stayed here on a Wednesday night, ahead of visiting the famous Thursday Barcelos market. We booked it after finding all other accommodation in the town to be rather expensive, and we were on a budget. For 20euro each in a twin room, with a balcony view to the main square, we were delighted. Both bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean and we could use wi-fi in our room.

It is a family residence, so it felt a little awkward to need to walk in front of the TV to get to our room, but they insisted not to worry as they ushered us along. The mother (I guess) who we checked in/out with has no English but we could communicate. The daughter (I guess) however does, so she stepped in to help when she was around. They have tourist maps/info at reception so this was useful.

Perhaps we were lucky with our room, but I would be happy to recommend it. Maybe try asking for a balcony room when you book (however this was twin).

we had front row seats for the Sunday afternoon music and dancing in the square.  Great location near cafes, shops and restaurants, and the bus stop.  Very quiet, comfy bed, wifi in lobby but not in all rooms.

My husband and I stayed in this lovely family run hotel in the old part of Barcelos when we rode the Portugese Camino. They have good big rooms with an old world ambience. We did our washing and used the wifi. During the day we wandered the old town and at night we strolled to a restaurant and then came back and looked out over the square from our room. The staff were very friendly and we were sad to leave.

See the pictures we took because they explain a lot. Take this hotel only if you have no other choice... and get ready! This is a family property turned into local accomodation. We paid €35 for a bedroom that was not worth that money... Spidernets in the ceiling, 2 windows with no natural light (one didn't open, the other gives access to the laundry....), it smelled like the room was not open for weeks, a carpet that covers the entire bedroom (usually this type of floor is a nest for mites!) and the wallpapper was falling off the wall. Everything looks very old, like this hotel has stopped in time back in the 70's... Like all of this was not enough, we went to the WC and found a smelling toilet with drops of pee all over it. We complained at the reception and after a lot of talking and arguing, the lady gave us another room with a bathroom without toilet (it had only a lavatory and a shower). To use the toilet we had to leave the room and go across the corridor to use the other bathroom... Disappointing, too expensive for the quality they present and very old.
