We have been scammed! The resort cancelled our trip one day before we were due to arrive because of a 'broken boat'. They assured us we would get a refund if we cancelled the trip on booking.com, which we did so. Since then they have failed to refund our trip, have ignored most our messages and any messages that have been replied to have been rude. Please be aware this place will scam you out of your money so I would be very wary if you decide to book. It is such a shame as my partner and I were looking forward to our stay, but feel have been left scammed.

AWFUL- DO NOT STAY- SCAM

We're going to dive here in November and we've enjoyed the family atmosphere at Bruno's. The food was delicious (good Thai dishes) and we've had many nice dives with Ken. The rooms are clean and landscaped, nicely decorated. The small diving base has its own rental equipment and a compressor. Nitrox is not available. It's only conditionally suitable for non-divers. I'll be back!

It's great for divers.

Unfortunately, we never made it to the dive as we were left at the airport with no one to pick us up. We had originally booked the transfer service (which we found out after bookimg it was highly priced compared to other transfer services within the Philippines) once we had realised this we emailed the property to ask if there was another option to get there. The property responded by cancelling our transfers. This is not what we wanted or asked for and so I responded and explained there was a miscommunication and we would still like the transfer service. After this, the property completely ignored us. I sent a further 3 emails and had no response. I emailed to inform that we were on our way to the airport and to please confirm that we were going to be picked up. We had no response. Once we arrived (at night) we were stranded at the airport, luckily there were some very nice policemen who helped us check into a nearby hotel and also informed us it would be too dangerous for us to travel down to southern Leyte alone. The policemen managed to phone the dive resort to which the property told them we had cancelled. Once we had arrived at the last minute hotel we tried three times to call the dive resort and sort out the miscommunication - we had no luck. I then sent another email to request transfers the next day and I had no response. This utterly ruined part of our trip and the lack of communication is terrible. We were hugely disappointed with the unprofessionalism of this place, they knew we were 2 young girls and they intentionally left us stranded in an unknown place. As the room had already been paid for on booking.com it seemed they didn't care if we would turn up or not as they already had the money. There was no communication from them at all to see if we would still be needing the room or to apologise for mix up. I would absolutely not recommend this place. Awful service.

Awful communication - stranded at airport

Loved the friendliness of the staff, they truly made us feel at home. The food was surprisingly good. It's a small resort, but very well maintained with beautiful flowers and plants all around. The fact that it's right next to the beach with the wonderful sounds of the waves hitting the shore makes it very suitable to relax

Completely Relaxed

We stayed there for 4 days. The positive room is good, the view is very nice, the resort is very well maintained. The negative room is only made every 3 days, the toilet towels are only changed every 3 days and as it regularly rained they didn't dry.. Every day we were up at 5:30/6 because our room was giving on a house and in the Philippines people get up very early but for holidays it's not top. The resort is on the side of a very old road. The food is bad and expensive.

Very disappointing, especially for scuba divers.

A little corner of paradise.... 4 bedrooms overlooking the sea.... an excellent restaurant and a FORMIBLE team!!!!!! A big thank you especially to Annabela and Ken... if you want a small structure and lovely people, this is the place you need.... a big thank you from Yoyo and Veronica

I had a very pleasant stay and did some amazing dives with Leyte dive resort.

The place is small but very cosy, just in front of the beach with a nice garden to relax. The rooms are small cotages which are very decent and have good beds. The food is amazing and includes both local food, thai food and western food (best fries in Asia!). The people are really friendly and are always in for a beer and a chat.

I did 2 days of diving. On one day we went to Napantao where I did one of the best dives ever (amazing corals and thousands of fish) . The divemaster (Tata) is experienced, thrustworthy and helpfull. The first dive in Napantao was very difficult due to the strong (!!!) current but due to the help and guidance of Tata we managed to complete the adventurous dive. On the boat there was a good and funny atmosphere with the friendly personne who cared for us by serving coffee, Milo and cookies before and after diving. 

I really enjoyed my stay and diving therefore I recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a nice, cosy and fun diving holiday.

Very pleasant stay with amazing dives

Enjoyed my stay here for the peace and quiet but disgusted by the advertising of it on the website I booked through. It was so misleading. Firstly, there are ONLY four units - one family, one budget and two deluxe so when the advertising says only two left it leads you to think that the rest have gone! Also there is no lake, as advertised. There are no balconies, as advertised. All units a ground floor and a balcony indicates there are two floors. The breakfast is certainly not superb, as advertised. At best I would call it decidedly average. There is no room service as there are no phones to call for service alathough if you go to the reception area they will bring you what you want to your room. I found the staff to be friendly but was let down by the misleading advertising.

Lovely Ambience

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at Leyte Dive Resort.
Before the practical points, I have to say how nice it was to meet the people there. A small family owned business, with native flair and Swiss efficiency is the perfect combination.  It took me no time at all to make myself comfortable.
I could have been an old friend just catching up on laughter.
I had the pleasure of great luck on the whaleshark trip, and the combination of shore dives and boat dives.  Sogod Bay is great diving without the crowds.  Visibility is quite good and it is quite clean (except at the Pier for night diving, but if you make it past the trash on the shore, what you will find for underwater creatures is rewarding).
Definitely made some great memories, and laughed a lot even underwater :-)
A small resort with personal service.
Excellent.  And it does not even have a sandy beach or a pool.

Some green points...
As much as appreciated to have toiletries in the bathroom, please limit the use of single use items... a bottle of refillable 2-1 or 3-1 shampoo/conditioner/soap, is better that all the single non recyclable packagings. 
Please encourage guests to bring their reusable water bottles, which may be refilled in your restaurant, which would decrease the plastic bottles usage.
And you are small enough to eliminate plastic straws and stirrers.
There are reusable bamboo straws or metal straws. For stirring the hot drinks on the boat, spoons do just fine, or the little wooden stirrers.
(Some bigger resorts have successfully managed a full bar without the single use plastic items).

The Philippines are a precious natural treasure, and every pro-active step helps.

And the rest... the email communication was efficient, and the transport arranged was on time and reliable.
I was assigned Room 1, which I found to be clean and comfortable.
The window may not be opened, so I kept my door opened much of the day... and glad it’s that kind of place... where one may do so.
The whole resort is clean and well kept... whatever washed up on the shore is manageable to pick up and put in the waste bin.
I rented a full set of diving equipment, and it all worked out just fine.
If I ever decide to do the DiveMaster course, I would highly consider the German instructor that operates there.
I personally had early mornings and early nights on this trip, but certainly there is some nightlife of the local kind... from next door, to a tricycle ride away.

By divers for divers

The only bad thing i could say about staying in Leyte Dive Resort that it was not long enough, perfectly sized with only four tidy and beautiful rooms right on the waterfront, cant wait to go back there. The resort is perfect for diving also with snorkelling areas full of all kinds of fish and corals literally meters away. Amazing place!
