Me & my friend had a marvelous time at the river inn! eventhough its 10km away from town its very accessible even without car ( bus every 30min, taxi costs less than 10$ ). The owner is open & helpful and very fun to be around. Perfect for all kinds of guests as there are different types of habitation be it a cabaña or a private room (breakfast included) & the complex has a pool, volleyballfield, beautiful views & benches - you can even have a little walk around the cabañas if you like. We slept very well & would definitely come back.

Boquete River Inn is similar to cabins I've visited in Minnesota. It's a great place to stay in Boquete, especially for couples or families. 

As noted in some other reviews, it's about 8km from Boquete proper, but reaching the town isn't difficult. There's a bus stop within five minutes of the property and it only costs $1 to ride into town. Taxis will take you from town and back to the River Inn for $3 or $4. So I wouldn't let the extra distance scare you away. However, I found that some drivers didn't know about the property. I suggest telling them it's a few kilometers past the hardware store. (Voy a pasar unos kilómetros más allá de la ferretería).

During my stay I spent quiet a bit of time with Jim the property owner – and God broke the mold after making that guy. He's got this dry sense of humor that you rarely find, plus an eccentric personality (I'm sure he'd laugh at me using that word). I mean, how many 70-something guys do you find listening to techno and house music?

You won't find a lot of explicitly gay-friendly hotels in Boquete – or in Panama – but Jim really goes out of his way to be welcoming of LGBT guests, including same-sex couples and families. He made that point clear before and during my stay and I was delighted to find a rainbow flag sticker on the side of an amplifier in his home.

In this part of Boquete it's cooler, less rainy, and a little more breezy. I loved walking out on the path with the sun shining and the wind blowing. It reminds me of those perfect late summer days back in the States.

We stayed in Cabin 4 for a week, which is the furthest cabin from the entrance and very close to the pool (we liked both of those features).  The property is beautiful and has a great view of Volcan Baru.  The pool is amazing, and is kept really clean.  I miss that pool!  It was really quiet and peaceful, we were quite glad we didn't stay right in town.  We had a car so getting there was easy but it's also a really quick and easy taxi ride into town as well.  Ken was really helpful with our hundreds of questions and is a pretty interesting guy to talk to.  The cabin was spacious and clean, had basic furniture and had all the standard household/kitchen items you'd need for self-catering.  If we ever go back to Boquete, I'd stay here again.  
I noticed some reviews mentioning noise from roosters, but we didn't hear any and I'm usually pretty rooster-sensitive.  

We were recently reliving our first trip to Panama with our adult children. We revisited our very first accommodations, and host, Ken, at the Boquete River Inn. We had a lot on our plate, and due to a Panamanian holiday I had a very narrow window to get a package from Boquete which Ken volunteered to retrieve for me.  Above and beyond for sure.

Perfect stay!

Peaceful, Gay-Friendly, and a Great Location

Great stay in Bo-quet-tay

We enjoyed our two night stay at this B&B, mainly due to the proprietor and other guests who made our stay memorable. The location is high above a river gorge with great views. There is a big pool and spacious living area, but the guest room was not that great. No a/c, fridge, safe or door lock. The fan helped to keep it cooler. It could have used a good cleaning too. The cabins looked quite nice though. I would stay at one of the cabins if I was to come by this way again.

Good stay, but amenities lacking

Stayed in Casita 1 with a great view of Volcan Baru. Kitchen well equipped but pans should be replaced and had to borrow blender from main house.  During the day the cabins get very hot was very hard to be inside until evening. Seating in the cabin was very uncomfortable and the lighting was poor making hard to read.  The pool was the real bonus to meet and interact with fellow travelers.  While we were there the wind was a problem, blowing all night making it hard to sleep then the local roosters started crowing at 4:30.  The last week we stayed in the B&B but the promised breakfasts were not provided unless you only have coffee for breakfast. Without a car the steep drive to get to the road became tiresome.  Expect WiFi service to be iffy or non existing as it was for the super bowl. There were problems with the plumbing on several occasions during the stay.
