Great family stay! Spacious room. Good location and wonderful view from the lookout opposite the motel.

This motel would be one of the best we have ever stayed in. Apart from the grumpy reception man we encounted who certainly was not welcoming the unit was just lovely. Very well appointed and spotlessly clean, great spa bath and comfortable bed. A very nice friendly cleaning lady greeted us in the morning which was great.

Shower/bath was outdated for people in their 80s. Access was difficult.Plenty of hot water.

Clean, and comfortable rooms and beds, beautiful property.

It was the lagest room have stayed in and hhad tv in bedroom which was so convienient beds comfortable

Very well maintained and supplied property. It was clean and had a well stocked kitchen. We were supplied with a little bottle of whole fresh milk for tea on checkin. Rooms were spacious. There were hangers for our clothing. Hosts were nice. I loved the heat lamp in the bathroom as it gets cold at night when I like to bathe. Perfect for our one night stay!

We stayed in a 2-bedroom apartment as a family of 5 on our way home to Tauranga from Wellington. The room had everything we needed as a family of 5 for our overnight stay. The kids bedroom was spacious, with 3 comfy beds, and our bedroom also had a comfy bed. Was a bit worried about the road noise, being right next to State Highway 1, but this wasn't an issue for our sleep. Clean, tidy and comfortable.

This motel is a must-stay if you want to break up a long journey on SH1. It's part of the pleasure of a long drive. I love the suites and enjoyed a spa bath very much. Taihape is a lovely little town in a picturesque part of NZ's North Island. I love the faceted hills and endless shades of green. George is friendly and kind. I must not be the only happy holiday-maker because when I asked about staying another night, the rooms were booked out, of course, because it's Taihape's motel jewel. Make sure you visit the gift shop on the corner near the supermarket. It is a treasure trove. It has a Christmas heirloom room - a wonderland for anyone who loves Christmas, young or old, any time of year.

Stayed 1 night in a 1 bedroom unit. It was very spacious, clean and good heating with a heat pump and electric blanket on the comfy bed. There a good size kitchenette and table & chairs plus a sofa & coffee table. TV’s in lounge and bedroom. Bathroom was huge with a shower over spa bath. Good lighting in all areas. Parking in front of unit made it easy to unpack & pack up. We have stayed here before in a different room type and would absolutely stay here again.

Probably the best equipped motel I have found in years. Old fashion motel with those little things that have gone out of the industry, that still understands guests are travelling, and some little things like paper towels, plunger coffee, etc are really appreciated after a day on the road, and the effort to hop back in your car and head to the shops, or having to carry your kitchen sink with you are not practical.

We are a retired couple from Australia visiting NZ for the first time. We had booked this accommodation before leaving home, so hoped we had done our research well enough. We were not disappointed! It’s located just out of town – just a comfortable stroll. Our unit was simply excellent! So spacious, so well-equipped. Everything we could possibly want was there. Would highly recommend.(The Rustic Steakhouse is about a two-minute walk away. Had a great meal there. My partner did too, and she’s a vegetarian.)
