We decided to stay at Edenhouse while exploring the Nelson region for the weekend. Our family of four stayed in the very comfortable Garden Cottage and had a simply wonderful time. Peter and Bobbie would be the best hosts we have had at any stay in New Zealand and couldn't have been more welcoming and attentive. The spectacular gardens were matched by the equally impressive meals we had while staying here. We would recommend Edenhouse to anyone looking for a unique New Zealand experience. Thank you!

Edenhouse is simply outstanding as other reviewers have consistently noted!  Great communication prior to arriving.  We chose The Cottage which is a 2 level, 2bed/bathroom stand alone adjacent to the main Lodge with oodles of room, furnished to a very high standard.  The best Lodge suite we have had in the country!  Bobbie and Peter are terrific hosts  and looked after us extremely well.  Although many Lodges have reduced prices to capture the local traveler, most have  also reduced the level of service.  Not so at Edenhouse!  Great Happy Hour with plenty of tasty canapes and generous drinks; this is probably the only Lodge in NZ that includes wines at the table and minibar in with the stay- unbelievable!.  The food was devine!  We were delighted to find a Lodge that has not followed the tedious degustation trend and offers delicious food in good portions, and it doesn't take until midnight to complete the service.  Edenhouse has a great team supporting Bobbie and Peter- thanks to Sarah, Mayer, Margaret and Molly.  we cannot wait to retun in the summer and sit outside in Bobbie's beautiful garden!
A number of NZ Lodges have forgotten the meaning of the luxury Lodge experience.  These operators need to pay a visit to Bobbie and Peter at Edenhouse who wrote the definitive text on the subject, and learn how it should be done.  The experience at Edenhouse is quite exceptional!  Well done Team Edenhouse!

Everything about Edenhouse is faultless. Right from our initial contact via phone with Peter through to our walk with Bobbie in the gardens prior to leaving was first class. We were greeted on arrival by Peter and Bobbie and shown around the beautiful home before being taken to our apartment - what else can you call a space with a large bedroom, a lounge and two bathrooms. After settling in it was drinks in the lounge and a chat with chef Sarah about what was going to be served for dinner - dietary requirements were checked so all are catered for. The setting for dinner was beautiful, Bobbie’s background in design shines through everywhere in the house and gardens and Peter is the perfect host offering drinks and hospitality. The staff are all local and some have worked at Edenhouse since it inception. Retiring to our blissfully peaceful bedroom we slept in a huge comfortable bed with beautiful linens. Breakfast is again a blissful delicious experience. There is plenty to keep you occupied in the area so our day was spent exploring only to return to return to the bliss of Edenhouse for another beautiful evening spent with our delightful hosts. Before leaving we leaving we toured the gardens with Bobbie. Can’t recommend this lodge highly enough. Thanks, Bobbie and Peter, Sonia, Sarah and Maya and all the lovely staff.

We had a superb stay at Edenhouse.  Could not speak highly enough of the welcoming atmosphere and the wonderful experience.  Our accommodation was so luxurious and comfortable that we wanted to stay put instead of going out - having two bathrooms per suite is a real luxury and most enjoyable.  A lovely touch - fresh home baked cookies in our little kitchen area, along with fresh fruit and coffee.  

We stayed one very memorable night at Edenhouse. Peter and Bobbie are welcoming and gracious hosts, their home is purpose built in the most beautiful surroundings that they have created from a paddock in a stunning valley setting. We enjoyed the very spacious Edenhose Suite which is superbly comfortable and well appointed, The food and wine is outstanding and very delicious. It is so nice that several local people are employed in all aspects of running the property. We are enjoying supporting local when there are beautiful places like Edenhouse to visit. Edenhouse is one of the 32 Luxury Lodges of New Zealand. It is around an hours drive from Nelson Airport and can only accomodate a maximum of 3 couples at a time. The nightly charge includes a fully stocked bar and in room snacks, appetisers, 3 course dinner with top quality wines and a succulent full breakfast.

We stayed for only 1 night and it was perfect in every way. The rooms are enormous with 2 full bathrooms and quality furnishings throughout. From the outside you might think it was an old manor but in fact was only built in 2003 so doesn’t have all the issues older buildings can have. The owners, Bobbie and Peter are wonderful hosts and involved in every part of the experience. The food was amazing and the spacious grounds a delight to wander around.

Places like Edenhouse have been hard hit by Covid19 as 90% of their business was overseas tourists. Now is the perfect time for kiwis to experience places like Edenhouse at great rates before overseas tourists return. Don’t wait, it is worth every dollar.

Our hosts: Bobby, the ultimate chatelaine and Peter, an incomparable major.domo, were simply the most delightful and generous individuals and we were spoiled from arrival to departure......can’t wait to return ( if they are prepared to have us back!).

Peter and Bobbi welcomed us to their beautiful home, Edenhouse which is set in magnificent gardens and surrounding hills.  The suites are extraordinarily generous in size, each with two bathrooms so you need never be inconvenienced.  The walls have outstanding art (Bobbi is an artist herself) and you may choose to dine in several areas.  The cuisine is wonderful and also includes accompanying wine which is not normally included at lodge properties.  We had a bottle of cabernet sauvignon from a local boutique vineyard which was the best red I can remember tasting.  Peter, Bobbi and their staff were always wonderful company and we highly recommend staying at Edenhouse.

Though words rarely fail me, I find that the superlatives expressed in the reviews of Eden House which I’ve just reread are perfect. It is hard to improve on the descriptions of paradise that others have wrttien. My husband and I left Eden House this morning and can’t stop thinking that we just experienced something beyond luxury. We are overwhelmed by the genuiness, warmth and graciousness of Bobbie and Peter and the absolute joy we felt in their magnificent home and meeting their amazing staff of smart, caring and talented women. We love traveling and staying at beautiful countryside manor homes. But staying at Eden Hiuse is much more than an idyllic experience. I don’t know how they do it, but Bobbie and Peter have a genuine gift for making guests feel beyond cared for.  This is unlike any experience one is likely to have in traveling short of visiting good friends. And that’s why we hope to return.  Our goal is to see this magnificent property in every season.  P.S.  We stayed in the new Folly house. Heaven on earth!

We stayed for 3 nights mid April at the end of our travels in New Zealand and it was the perfect place to unwind and relax.  Peter and his wife Bobby are excellent hosts together with their little team of staff who are all very friendly and welcoming. Peter takes great interest in ensuring his guests get the most out of their stay.  He even found out where we were staying a few nights before we arrived and sent on detailed instructions on how to drive to Edenhouse.  He found out we were taking a boat trip around the Abel Tasman coast and suggested we change the time of our departure so that we could incorporate a walk through the National Park - this was a great idea and he even arranged the new departure for us.   Dinner (& breakfast) is generally a communal affair with the other guests but you are offered a separate eating area if you prefer. My husband and I really enjoyed the company of the other guests and we met some really lovely interesting people.  The food is outstanding - lovely fresh ingredients, superbly cooked and presented. The house is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and very homely with lots of lovely furnishings and art. Bobby designed the house and gardens and her lovely artwork adorns the walls along with other lovely pieces.  The garden provides lots of lovely private seating areas where you can relax and read or just take in the view, and afternoon tea and cake included in our stay was very welcome. Our room within the house was very large with a well designed shower room.  We absolutely loved our stay at Edenhouse, it was pure luxury and we would love to return.
