Friendly staff on arrival informative,  upgrade to a bigger room with private bathroom,  great views comfortable room hot pools nearby beach across the road the perfect spit for a day or two,  beautiful spot 

Came here to stay for a couple of nights and do a few activities in Tekapo... first got given an upgrade so that was an extra cool bonus, so stayed in a nice little cabin that was quite nice and spacious for 2 people. It has a nice lovely spot with a view looking towards the lake. Lovely place to stay

Stayed here for 2 nights, first night was a last minute booking, 2nd night was preplanned. Staff were wonderful and accommodating. Rooms (1x 2 bed dorm and 1 x bach cabin) were both clean, well equipped and comfortable. Views of the lake were great, shared kitchen facilities were clean and well equipped. Kiwi bach cabin had its own kitchenette and facilities. Wonderful stay all round, would definitely stay again!

I arrived on the intercity bus to be greeted by Andrea. She was friendly and let me pop into the shop to grab a few bits before heading to the lodge. The lodge it’s self was so beautiful even the dorm rooms have a lake view. The rooms were very clean and had balcony doors. The kitchen has a great set up and there is even an oven. Buckets for clean/ dirty tea towels and rags. Really well organised. Bathrooms were always clean. Only think that could have made my stay better is a bigger free internet/unlimited. Also a fan in the room as it was hot in the day time. Thanks for looking after me :)

It is 1km from town center, but the walk way along the lake has been rebuilt and in very good condition. And hostel offers intercity stop pickup around mid-noon on request.

Only Spark NZ is available around the hostel, so if you don't have Spark's sim card, then you have to buy Wifi package. 

The hostel is also the accommodation of Kiwi Experience Tour, so it could be full and noisy even in should season. I booked the whole 2-bed dorm and room is quite nice with lake view. Kitchen and bathrooms are OK, shower is good.

Lovely view, beautiful facilities. There are nice walks nearby and it is close enough to the town centre. The facilities were clean and modern but there were a few things missing e.g. there were no powerpoints in the dorm rooms. Some oil or salt and pepper in the kitchen would have been helpful too. Overall, a great stay! Thanks!

Good backpackers. Good sleep. Great service. Close to walk to shops. We enjoyed our stay there. Booked the day of stay and there was a vacancy which was great. Hand sanitiser was available but not required to be used.

The room was clean though small as expected. It was a small wooden but with 2 charging points, tv, a small wicker drawer set, a radiator and a small table fan. It has a small window for ventilation. It was hot in the afternoons without the door open. Nights were fine with the door and window closed. They provide linen, blankets and towels. The shared washroom and toilets were nearby. They get cleaned later in the morning hence get a little dirty by 10 am.bthe toilets are shared by tents, 3 privates and 2 dorms so get a bit busy in morning. The kitchen is well equipped and has enough stoves and utensils even if there are multiple people. The car park is free. The WiFi is patchy and very slow. The hostel is near village center and faces the lake. laundry facility is available. It so has an outdoor barbeque kitchen.

Stayed here for 2 nights in October. In a 4 bed dorm , very clean and good value for money. Kitchen is well organised and well equipped. The only issue is the kitchen cleaning time and 10am , guests need to be informed of this on arrival. We had done a stargazing tour at 01:30am and not back until 3am we were in the middle of making lunch and breakfast at 10am and informed the kitchen needed to be closed off for cleaning. As one of the main attractions in the area is stargazing a more flexible kitchen cleaning time is recommended.

If you're just passing through or want to stay during the weekend, that's a good choice. Recommendable have a transport if you wanna go to the village of Mt John. Bikes are good option though. It's a walking distance to Tekapo Springs. 
Nice BBQ area.
Kitchen and lounge area are pretty clean and tidy. BUT, the 4 dorm rooms are too small!
