Very nice people, even people that wanted to share their food with me!! Very clean place. Free Wi-Fi all over the place and a lot of places to plug-in your loader. Really great! Just a little far from the bus station..

The hostel staff were very friendly and check-in was quick and efficient.  My suitcase was taken to my room for me and I was shown around the hostel and to my room which was very welcoming. I was in a 6 bed dorm and it was not cramped. The room had one skylight window and this brought in natural light into the room. The rooms had no lockers. The kitchen was very clean and had everything you would need to make a nice meal at breakfast, lunch and evening. The bathrooms / toilets were clean although there is only two sinks outside the showers. The hostel is in a good location with a supermarket close by, and within walking distance of the river.
I would recommend the hostel and I would stay there again.

Knocked at Eagle to attend a working session at Hamilton…had an ensuite that was properly managed… it was cozy in terms of room price… enjoyed all embedded facilities… good communal area … good location with many supermarkets ( e.g countdown, pack'n save  etc)… however, not aware of dorm facilities..hopefully, good as well… altogether, it was a short but pleasant stay…

My stay was from Tuesday 30 Jan 2018 - Saturday 3 Feb 2018.

Good location… a pleasant experience with ensuite facilities…

Friendly Place!

We booked with Eagles Nest directly and had text confirmation of booking and that payment had been received a month prior to our stay. The day before our trip we were called and told our room had been double booked. As there was an event on in Hamilton and it was much too late to sort anything else we told them to sort it, which they supposedly did. The next day on arrival they were not expecting us at all and were very surprised, confused and took a lot of discussion to allow us to our room. The place stunk, our room was very damp, the curtains above our heads were moldy, the rubbish bin was full, there was brown (not dry) marks on the sheets along with long black hairs throughout the bedding, wet scrunched up floor towels in the bathroom obviously left from the previous customers stay. I understand it is a backpackers but I would never stay here again. Not worth the hassle and not up to a hygienic standard.

Disorganised and unclean

Even though hostel has got a good location in Hamilton, quite Okay facilities, I would never stay again!!!
 They have got bedbugs all over the place (not only dorms, but the common area as well)!!! 
After first night during the day I noticed few incredibly itchy bites on my feet, back and arms! Had no idea what it was! When I woke up in the middle of the second night due to itchiness all over my body, I had a look on the bed with a torch! Bed was covered by bedbugs! Took all my stuff and left the room! Checked the same way the sofas in common room and it was the same! In the morning when I tried to speak to receptionist he just smiled and said he’s got none in his room! Other member of staff said that they are cleaning and it’s backpackers fault because they brought them in! Not willing to do anything about the issue neither provide refund! Send an email to management and got no response either! Please avoid if you can!!!

I was not only one bitten!!!

Maybe it used to be nice a great hostel in past with previous owner but not anymore!
