B&B 't Nieuwe Plein

Ideal hotel for Arnhem city centre at a very reasonable price. Just a short walk from Arnhem Centraal station with both bus and train links and plenty of amenities close by including numerous shops and restaurants. It is a very small place above a popular steak restaurant. The stairs up to the room are rather steep and narrow, which may be a problem for travellers with bulky or heavy luggage. Check in was easy and straightforward. The only thing that would have improved my stay would have been to have air conditioning or a fan in the room as it was very hot during the heatwave when I visited. I would definitely stay again.

A very nice place. The rooms are cosy and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is situated in the heart of the city but surprisingly quiet. Breakfast is basic but good (although senseo-coffee should be banned).

Perfect City Centre Location!

Cosiness in the city center

The B&B 't Nieuwe Plein is very cute, all the rooms are new and the interior is nice, it also very clean. 
I gave a 3  out of 5 because I've been in this place twice and both times, the mugs for tea and coffee that are available in the room were dirty. Moreover it is a bit noisy during the night.
By the way I think this B&B is a good option to sleep in Arnhem.
I visited twice also the restaurant. I liked the atmosphere a lot, and the food is also good.

Very good location and nice rooms

If you are looking for the usual B&B experience, nice food, good accommodation and welcoming service, this is not the place you'll find any of those. Though well located in Arnhem city centre, just minutes from the train station, the first hurdle is to find anyone to let you in. We found the B&B easily enough, but on buzzing we waited a few minutes before a somewhat grumpy person arrived from around the corner gruffly asking us what we wanted. The B&B doesn't tell you that it is run by the restaurant on the ground floor, and you have to arrive there.

We were ushered to the room and told, in no uncertain terms, that no one was around and we should keep the emergency numbers with us if we needed anyone. Breakfast was left in a cool cabinet outside the room. The room was small, and half the lights didn't work. One being completely broken and hanging off its fixture. The bed linen were stained, though they had been washed, and we overlooked a busy street. On reading the hotel "rules", we were informed that the police occupied a room upstairs from 11:00pm. Also, that prostitution was strictly forbidden. Why these bits of information were important, we decided were best not known. We settled in anyway, and made the best of it as we were only staying one night. 

Come morning, the breakfast was waiting, which was ok. However, unless you like bread, a lot of bread, you might find it a bit lacking. Luckly we were leaving early and put this place behind us. As you may have gathered, we won't be coming back.

Disappointing, and shabby

The wifi did not work (this was the only place out of the 7 hotels we used during our trip that did not have working wifi and it was very frustrating!! Dont advertise somewhere as having wifi if it doesnt work!!) and there was no air con/fan so the room was constantly warm. The road outside seemed to be a taxi rank and I had terrible sleeps here from the noise as we had to leave the window open as it was so hot in the room. There was also a funny smell from the bathroom and there seemed to be damp on the wall behind the door. The breakfast was not very nice as everything that was supposed to be refridgerated was pretty warm. Our room was not made up once during our stay so we did not get new sheets/new towels or any used glasses removed and replaced. The walls up the stairs were all marked and there was a very noisy room on our floor with washing machines in. Also, there were wet bed sheets hanging over the banister of the stairs which when walking up and down the stairs you had to actually duck to get under. There is also no reception for the b&b and it is basically just some rooms above a restaraunt which are accesible through a side door. When we arrived the guy also took us to our room which was fine, but then stood in it with us talking about house rules etc - when I check in somewhere I prefer to be left alone and found it quite invasive that he was stood in our room talking about rules when we had just paid, very strange. The more I actually think about this place the more I realise how much I did not enjoy my stay!! The room design itself was nice which is the only reason it has been rated a 2 and not a 1. Unfortunately I am unable to recommend this place and would not use this place again if I return to the area.
