Petra's Gaestehaus

We stayed for one night so that we could visit Spitzkoppe and the White Lady paintings. All was fine. Breakfast was adequate. The owner was very helpful and advised about our trip. He was accommodating when we arrived late due to a flat tyre. Recommends local places to eat within easy walking distance. My impression is that Namibians are culturally not proactive in offering services but are helpful and sociable when approached. I wish I had known prior to our visit that second hand clothing, particularly for children, is greatly appreciated and any clothing donations are gratefully received by the local population.

Very small bungalows, very simple, but somehow charming :-) 
Bathroom is outside and nice.
Breakfast is simple, but enough.
The owner changed. But he is quite a nice man and tries to help wherever he can!
If you’ve got time do the sundowner your with him- it’s surprisingly interesting (a lot of exciting information!!) and lovely to see the Brandberg in the sunset :-) !

Great location

Rustic stay  

We chose this as an alternative to Brandberg Rest Camp where we had stayed previously, but it proved to be a bit of a let down.  The owner was not available when we arrived, although he did indicate where we should park.  A lady showed us our room which was small and had no door on the "wardrobe". The bathroom was fine, but the toilet flushing system malfunctioned a few times. Nor was there a hospitality tray, so we could not have a cup of tea after our long drive.  The breakfast was fine.  When the owner came to see us in the morning, we learned that the tin mine will probably reopen which is good news for Uis.  All together it was a disappointing stay.

Adequate for a night

We were told that owner has changed and there had been some hickups. But we faced no issues: rooms were there and they were as described, maybe bit smaller. Fun thing was that our toilet/showers did not had roof :D. Of course there was only one person to do all work so she was sometimes bit too busy to serve all guests. Anyhow basics were there and breakfast was ok. Rooms also had mosquitonets to keep (possible) mosquitos away (not malaria mosquitos). Car parking was safe.

Ok place for night or two

The original German couple that founded this guesthouse seemed to have moved back to Germany. We didn't see the new owner which is really a pity since one of the things we enjoyed in Namibia is talking to the local people.
A, friendly though not very interested, lady took care of the place whilst he was gone.
Shower was cold, other than that the place is fine, but nothing special.

Not Petras anymore

When we made the reservation, the pension was still runned by the previous owner.
The new owner is not proactive. He just sits and waits until the new guests arrive. He bought the property and it seems like he didn't change anything.
The rooms are not super clean. Breakfast was ok.
No passion for what he does and no drive to make it as nice as possible for the guests. They got lot to learn!
There is restaurant and hotel (Die Koekepan ) nearby with good food and vibes. Would have preferred that one.
