Only place to stay for backpackers in Hpa-An, really friendly atmosphere staff were wonderful, helped with buses and bikes. Breakfast was awesome, great vibe and met nice people in the dorm. Cave trip is a must, don't miss!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Great as a comfortable base to explore Hpa An. They organise tours from the guesthouse that are great. Onward travel also taken care of. Rooms are big with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. AC rooms have fridge and TV. There are also dorms. All with hot shower.Staff are super friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast included. Will stay here again when next in Hpa An

Such a wonderful little town to roll into at the end of a full day exploring. SOE's is a good place to stay; close to the river and good local restaurants. The bed was comfortable and the shower had great water pressure and heat.

Awesome, friendly dorms in Hpa-An

Great find

comfortable night in a quaint town

Room is big with balcony. Bathroom is clean and toiletries are provided.

I paid $22 usd a night which I feel is steep compared to other accommodations. The original Soe I heard from travelers were paying $6 for their own room. 

They do provide a really nice cave tour at a reasonable price. Book it if you have the time! Also their beverages are at a decent price. Water bottle for 700kyat. 
Staff is helpful. Motorbike taxi for 3000-4000k for a ride. They also helped me book my bus from Hpa-An to Bagan. An employee walked me to the bus stop and waited until the bus came. 

I highly suggest bringing sleeping pills and ear plugs to this hotel. There are packs of stray dogs running around directly outside the property howling and screeching at all hours of the day and night. If you can’t deal with that then don’t stay.  I woke up after my last night and found a flea on my leg in the morning. I wouldn’t be surprised if it jumped on me from the stray dogs in the courtyard.

Very far from bus/center 830-40 min walking). Even taxi didn't find it. I was shocked (after Thai standard). Room run down, just acceptably clean (better not touch too much), no mosquito mashing (and full of mosquitos 24 hours). Breakfast eggs, rubber "bread", water melon, margarine, sugar jam. Staff- well, at first I felt like I had to apologise for staying with them, but it got better during my stay. Was bad at breakfast again.
I have no idea how this place gets so many recommendations. Better pay more and get a decent room and breakfast.

Dated, run down and far out

Book from booking.com at Soe Brother-2 at dormitory at 19 Jan and arrived there at 20 Jan 2 AM .
At that time , reception guy said that he missed to close availability at booking.com and offered me to take more expensive room with no responsibility for his mistake at 2 AM . 
And then , i get out from there and find for another place to take a rest . And i complaint in booking.com for this case as bad review and they replied to booking.com as i'm not arrived at that night . 

Very bad experience and no responsibility for their business and lied to booking.com as customer is a lier .

Soe Brother-2 Extremely bad responsibility

Motorbike rental. Avoid soe brothers.

You have to try several bikes to find one with 2 mirrors,  brakes and good mechanics. None have  working speed counter.

And if by chance you have an accident you are sure to be scammed by the owner pretending huge reparation fees whereas he will rent it as soon as you left. Run away from here!!

Worse motorbike rental in Myanmar

This hotel is big standard hotel charging premium prices. The bother that put this big building together are kind of with it. The single room has no air-con the windows are all cracked, the bathroom is basic and just about works.

 If they hire a motorbike they expect you to refuel it to the brim otherwise they will insist on petrol money extra despite not being able to add the amount of fuel in there. The friendly Myanmar people make this trip great and this hotel staff are no exception however this review is based on the hotel facilities and the owners. They are rude and not very nice to their staff from what I have seen. Could not sleep over a dispute about how full a tank should be despite offering money they wanted half a tanks work to fit in a full tank. 

This hotel is overpriced and under maintained. The constant power cuts and surges make me wonder about the electrics every day. Sockets are hanging off walls.  This hotel for $15 -$24 a night is a slightly improved version of soe brothers but still very poor compared to what's available in Hpa -An.
