Tungapuri Hotel

I happened to make a two week trip to the capital of Myanmar, the famed Naypyitaw. Being a first trip to the capital, I shopped for a hotel on-line but at the end asked for recommendations based on the price range that I preferred. But since I was there during off season, hotel prices were really hitting the floor. I booked in a different hotel for the first 4 days and then found on-line a much better one at the same price and so I moved. It was not a difficult decision since the hotel is closer to the shopping mall and restaurant and it has this very attractive and imposing hotel building (which unfortunately is closed). The main hotel building of Tungapuri stands out because of its modern or unusual design. The rooms are wide spacious, well-appointed and complimentary drinks are generously provided. The room is clean, good bed, clean sheets (changed everyday? It feels like it though) and towels and everything in the room works. The hotel staffs are very courteous and helpful, breakfast is not bad with wide choices of local cuisine. One thing that stands out in this hotel is its “green” nature, which I am inclined to think, green beyond just being physically green because of lush vegetation. The planning of the hotel seems to have incorporated the environment. Consider these features, the hotel’s parking lot is planted with hedges and trees for shade, the hotel building has trees in its podium and the roof top which is visible from afar. More interestingly, it reuses old car tires as rubbish bins. The old tires are painted in bright colors and stacked about 5 tires high and lined with plastic rubbish bags. A number of these are scattered around the hotel ground. I give this hotel a good to very good rating.
