Ranau

We stayed here for a night after climbing Mt Kinabalu. It was a fantastic place to rest up and relax.

The accommodation is by the entrance to the hot springs, whilst restaurants are available close by.

The twin share room we were allocated was clean and well-kept. The beds were comfortable and allowed a good night of sleep.

Overall, it’s worth stopping off here, especially after a mountain climb!

Fab stop

Best for first timer on hiking and trekking 😊 a bit scary for me coz it’s my first time to go there 
And I grew up in city with a lot of buildings less of a trees 😂 it’s a fun day indeed 😉😊so Relaxing esp  when you dip your legs on the water with warm water. But some of the area needs improvement Not so clean 😊

Adventure time

A visit to Poring was included in our Borneo itinerary. This is not a high class attraction( our entry fee was in our holiday cost, but I am sure it wasn't expensive). Having said that we did enjoy our visit. The main attraction is the hot springs. You can either mix with the locals  in the public springs or have a session in the individual baths. The latter is what we did. There are the basic rooms or the "deluxe". We thought we would go  for the deluxe. When we went to make our booking the deluxe were booked so we had to settle for a  basic. The charge is inexpensive. The room could have  benefited with a refurb . The  facility had two very large baths,  benches and a shower room. The room is lockable. We would have done better to book a time slot on entering the facility. The other facilities are a butterfly garden, a canopy walk, a stream where little fish will give you a pedicure ( at no charge) and a forest walk. Maps are available for visitors to assist in helping you plan your stay.. 

For the lucky visitors to the Poring area you may visit when a local resident has a Rafflesia Arnoldii  flower in bloom. The flower only blooms for 5/6 days. They are reputed to be the largest flower in the world . We visited a small holding where a women had one in bloom. Cost £6 each to enter her land. She also had white chilli, a cinnamon tree , two different banana trees, different coconut plants and other plants.. So our guide could give us a horticultural lesson as a bonus.

Some Like It Hot

Huge suite with veranda, sitting room, large bathroom and outside bath! Spacious and comfortable. Very accommodating staff; we had to leave at a stupidly early hour and this was no problem; they even made us sandwiches and a packed breakfast to take with us. Restaurant in the park was a bit average, but a variety of things to choose from.
Room was a little noisy due to the thundering river but not a problem for us.

Luxury

Rooms are nice and big - especially the bath! Unfortunately we could only get two single beds but no problem for one night. The river behind the house can become quite loud if you are noise sensitive. No problem for us. There is a restaurant in the complex but also cheaper places just outside opposite the street - we tried the Inn and it was great value for money (restaurant with all the international flags hanging from the ceiling).

The hot springs are right next door, we can recommend going there early. When we hiked to the waterfall at 7:30 AM there was hardly anyone but when we returned it was very overcrowded. The hike to the waterfall (ca. 3km one way) was our highlight! Challenging but rewarding at the end, took us around 3,5 hours round trip so you can do it on check out day and still shower afterwards ;) we only saw others on our way back - nice and quiet (take water!) we didn’t do the canopy walk or the botanical garden. 

The one problem with the hotel is the lack of WiFi in the rooms, there were a number of international guests sitting in the lobby building - just annoying if you try to plan the next days ahead. The location is a bit of a detour when driving from Ranau - consider that in your choice.

Overall very good!

Stayed in one of the two villas on the hill, great accommodation. Stayed for two nights. Clean and well maintained.  Limited dining options but good for a short stay.  Great location for visiting the hot springs.


Quaint Accommodation 

I stayed here at Palm Villa with family for two nights. After read guest reviewed, we decided to book this resort. My first impression were right same like others. Since we arrived late, we were directed to the villa. Check in process done in the room very smooth and quick. 

Resort location just beside the one of main attraction, Poring Hot Spring. We spend half day here but cannot fully explore the area. 

The villa is very huge. Feel like staying at home. It also clean and well maintain. 
Breakfast service provided at Rain Forest restaurant. I recommend you to try their Nasi Lemak. 

I had asked the resort to prepare a room decoration to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and to surprise my wife. The resort staff Sue, Siandim, Saleha and Sahidah had done very good job. Thanks a lot for making our memorable day. 

Overall, even it a little bit pricey, you will not regret it. The facilties, service and cleanliness is tip top. 


Luxury Jungle Villa

We stayed in 2 Kelicap twin shares, the rooms were clean and beds were comfortable.  The weather was hot and the air cond was not cool enough even during night time.  The counter staff were polite n welcoming.

Poring hot spring was a let down.  The pools were packed n there were individual bathing tubs for one to soak the hot spring.  The idea was ok provided there was a proper stopper in place n the hot water outlet was small.  When we went there in the first afternoon, some tubs were free but a 6" height of dirty water with empty bottles n food wrappers.  We washed one of them clean n guessed what we had waited for 1 hour and the water was only 4 inches high.  We finally gave up n decided to come next morning.  When we reached there at 8am, all the tubs were clean n empty.  We switched on the taps and went for breakfast and canopy walk (2 hours later, the water was only 4 inches full! The we realised that we had never seen a full tub of water yesterday because all of the stoppers were not effective.  Complete waste of time if one is looking for Japan or taiwan type of hot spring.
Canopy walk was ok but need to have average fitness to climb all the way up.

Clean Room but hot spring was a blah

In a beautiful, quiet lodge, with two rooms, two bathrooms with Italian shower, bathroom and toilet, a living room, a dining room, a living room with sofa and TV, refrigerator. Very nicely decorated, with a beautiful wooden floor, well maintained, comfortable, pleasant, spacious and bright. Parking with two very convenient steps. The reception is very warm and all the information has been given to make the stay go well. We were even offered to accompany us to see, in a garden, the femurosalesia (the largest flower in the world). Attention, the entrance to the bathrooms located next door is not included in the room price. The hotel is very nice, in a very unforgettable restaurant setting.

A splendid lodge and warm welcome

Not very good service: the restaurant was trying to calculate, they tried to get the most expensive accommodation on arrival, but it wasn't ready to settle. They were staying in a two-bedroom.
