Nice quiet garden courtyard that all rooms face.  Coffee and tea on your terrace.  Easy walking to the river and the main streets for shopping eating and people watching.  Owner will pick you up at the airport for a small fee and can arrange tours or bus tickets for your onward travel.  Would stay there again even though there are a lot of options.

Great Location Friendly Owner

Comfortably furnished, spacious rooms in a quiet location. Functional, adequate storage facilities, very clean and well maintained. Daily free drinking water, as well as coffee and tea. Breakfast tastes good, wishes are taken into account, daily fresh fruit. The owner is very diligent and caring, friendly and non-intrusive. He guides the guesthouse very lovingly and with heart. Central location, about 5 minutes to the Mekong. All destinations in the area are easily accessible on foot. We have spent 10 nights there and will be staying there again on our next stay in Laos. Absolutely recommended!

Well-to-do accommodation in the best condition

In this guesthouse, it is impossible to get out of bed in the morning. From 4 a.m. onwards, two or three hens scream their throats out of the body right next door, and unfortunately, there are no curtains around the room to darken it. Based on the name, I would have imagined that the rooms were equipped with wooden floors. Unfortunately, however, the room was glued to ugly and therefore unhygienic carpets. The only plus point is the central location of the hotel and the friendly staff.

This is a great place. Friendly team, and cute location. Rooms are comfy and quaint. And clean. Location is super handy. Even had a personal airport pick up which was great. Suited our needs perfectly. 

Great little place 

They have 8 relatively spacious and very clean rooms, all of them equipped with “what you need” (fridge, bed, TV, air con, safe, an external bathroom) and is located in the middle of old town in a quiet side street. The terrace, were breakfast is offered, is quiet. The price is good. The small staff (family run operation) full of charm and service the Lao, smily way; love it!

Value for money in old town LP

Firstly, if you are using Maps.Me or Guru Maps, then the place is marked as Lao Wooden House.
Once I'd found the place, it was great. Service spot on. It really is a building of character. Sadly the house at the side has a lot of chickens who celebrate the dawn vigourously and frequently. And don't mention the dogs.
It's spotlessly clean, was perfect for a couple of days, has off street parking for motorcycles. The location is great for town, river views etc. I'd come again, but with earplugs

Good place to stay

We were recommended to stay at the Lao Wooden House by Mr Keng Vongphakdy of Lao Boutique Travel after our 2 day trip down the Mekong river. The Wooden house was one street away from the main Street within walking distance of some great restaurants. The rooms were big and spotlessly clean with great beds and good hot showers. The breakfast with egg's bacon and hot bread rolls was a great start to the day. I would have no hesitation to stay there again. The manager was great and made sure we got to the bus station on time

This hotel is a great find, it’s well situated and has good size clean rooms.
The owner is very helpful and speaks very good English, anything you need he advise you. The breakfast is nice, a choice of Asian or continental and plenty of it.

Away from the hustle and bustle

We moved into a hotel with my husband on December 31st. The room was booked back in September. No one met us at the front desk - there was just an envelope with our name and key inside. When we went up to the room, the first thing we saw was two beds that we couldn't connect. The second one was in a room that we couldn't stay in. There was a terrible smell of chemicals and the floor was probably breaking down - the lid ate the termite or it was rotten and the owners were just processing it with some kind of chemistry instead of closing and rearranging it.

Photos and prices don 't match the level of service

200 year old, renovated, traditional Laos wooden house. Well maintained and clean. Ideally situated on the peninsula on a street in between the main street and the river. Perfect for exploring the peninsula and for the night market. Quiet location. The owner, Vong, and his staff bent over backwards to be helpful and to make us comfortable. Nice courtyard to sit outdoors.
 The WiFi was poor - narrow bandwidth, so difficult to access the internet when other guests (and the staff!) were surfing. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room so; whilst the staff were willing to make these, it wasn’t the same as just making your own. Breakfast was in addition to the room rate; it was okay but not great value. Overall, probably not the best value in Luang Prabang and if we were to visit again would probably look for somewhere else.
