12 reviewsThe drive up to the Edelweiss was a revelation. Almaty is such a beautiful city and the area that the Edelweiss is in is probably the loveliest. The hotel itself is warm. Comfortable, friendly with great service, free wifi, warm shower and clean bed. I think it would be a deal at twice the price. Almaty is going through a transition. The worldwide chains -- Holiday Inn etc., can still command $200 a night rates because travellers are wary of the local hotels. The local hotels are getting better and better and the Edelweiss is proff that you don't have to pay over the odds to stay in a place that could just as easily be in Birmingham, UK, or Birmingham, Alabama. I will definitely return to the Edelweiss.
