My overall experience with the hostel was excellent. The room was offered at a reasonable price, considering the close proximity to various sites and the facility condition. One thing that I particularly like about this property was how helpful the manager Raed Saleh was. There were couple of occasions that I needed help (i.e. late payment, eating recommendation, booking long distant taxi) and he has always been down-to-earth and showed great care from a traveller's perspective.

It was nothing special and there were not many people staying there but I liked it. The employees were very nice, friendly and helpful. The rooms were good and clean and it was by far the cheapest place in whole Amman.
If you are a traveler and you want to safe money, I defenitly would recommend it! I got a nice bed in a dorm with a good shower and included breakfast for 4 JD, which is very cheap! It is good located as well, you are very close to the roman colosseum and the citadel. There are a lot of shops, cafes and restaurants around as well.

We had a nice stay in the Hostel. The rooms were clean and the owner was nice (although it was maybe because he was after one of our girls...). But we made good prices for a trip to Wadi Mujib and the Dead sea (probably because of that girl, the owner went with us there). There were some problems with the showers on the room but you could still go to the bathroom that was open to everyone and shower there. The breakfast was really nice and could stuff all of us seven travellers. The beds were just really bad. They were laid out so you have a big hole in the middle and were squeaking a lot. On the roof the owner makes you a barbeque dinner and Shisha for a good price if you want.
So all in all a good advice if you can make some compromises!

Good located, very cheap and friendly

Nice Hostel for Young people

Hotel is very dirty, garbage and cigarettes everywhere, bathroom is disgusting.

Owner approached us in a very inappropriate way. He wanted us to come with him to buy cigarettes, because we were tourists and could buy them tax free. We refused, of course. He reacted mockingly so we went pissed off to our room. Electricity was switched off several Times in only our room that night.

People in Amman told us they Have a very bad reputation, also offering alcohol to woman, offering massages afterwards... Dont Go there. My Travel guide recommanded it, but it is not ok. Spread the word.

Horrible

The Bdeiwi hostel got recommended to us from a friend who lives in Amman and knows the owner. The rewievs on a hostel website seemed to be good - an average of 8,7 out of 10 seemed really good. However the reality was beyond what we expected. The hostel is located in a shady street, which is not a big problem, however at first glance it looks like a shady murder house. A horrible front window painted in black, with old newspapers covering it, and just a sad old little a4 paper with the name of the hotel. The reception and lounge area is heavily covered with carpets that look like have been there since the Roman times. It's very dirty, old, and there are unsecured electricity cables hanging all around the place. To add to that there is a gas heater standing in the middle of it, pumping heat into the lounge/reception. After the check in, and sorting the rooms out (14 people) we could go see the rooms. To sum it up a common thing for the rooms was that all were extremely cold, damp and moist. The first night was horrible due to those things. Everything would be slightly moist in the morning, and nothing would ever dry. Our bathroom (in a 4 bed room) didn't have hot water in the shower, only in the sink, so we had to wash ourselves in the sink, which luckily provided enough space to jam your head under the tap. The towels however would always keep wet as it was constantly moist and cold in the rooms. There was only one electrical socket on the wall by the door, taped with normal scotch tape to the wall. The light switch had exposed cables and was falling of the wall as well (again some tape). The roof view was rather uninteresting. The wifi was extremely slow, and the strongest signal was in the middle of the staircase just under the router. However even there it felt like a modem connection from the late 1990's. We were considering moving out as some rooms and beds were really filthy, but the owner who wasn't there, but with whom we spoke on the phone scared us with Police and making our life difficult. Also our drivers where some extended family of the owner so we didnt want to risk it, and decided to make the best of the worst. The staff member that was always on sight was great. The only positive part of this establishment was this man. He was super helpful with writing down adresses in arabic for us (as we had many meeting in the city, and the taxi drivers speak little to none english), he suggested good restaurants, and me and my friend spent some good time with him playing cards and talking about Jordan, local customs and traditions. He was genuinely the nicest part of that hostel. We met the owner only once, and he asked us to help him - by buying cigarettes and alcohol from a duty free shop. We didn't want to do this, so we just tried to avoid coming back early to the hostel so that this would not come back up. Luckily we managed to avoid this topic again. After the few days we stayed there we were glad to leave that horrible establishment. There is only hope that some serious renovations will be carried out (as that is the plan of the new management), because otherwise it hit rock bottom already.
