Minshuku Suisenso

My husband and I stayed at Suisenso for one night during our two week trip to Japan. We booked our room with the help of a Japanese friend in the U.S. before we left. This place is awesome!! It is about 1/3 the price of other ryokan in the Fukuchi Onsen area but it is just wonderful. Our room was tradtitional Japanese style and was spotless with new tatami and authentic Japanese decor. Our huge window along one wall had an unobstructed view of the alps. The dining room was beautiful and the food was plentiful, delicious and beautifully presented. When you stay here you are given a free ticket to bathe at the baths in the larger inns in the area so we were able to walk from place to place and sample the awesome rotenburo (outdoor tubs) in the village. I speak some Japanese and this made it very easy since very little English is spoken here. This is an authentic Japanese experience from tatami to food to futon so if that is what you're looking for you will love it here.
