Nice and comfortable with good rooftop onsen.Walkable to old town but be aware of opening and closing times of shops etc as most open and close early!

The property is is great condition.   The staff was lovely and helpful.  The food and service in the hotel restaurant is superb.  The onsen and sauna impeccable.

Hotel and Spa Gift Takayama was a great place to stay while exploring the area. The location is convenient, and the modern facilities make for a very comfortable stay.

One of the highlights was the onsen on the top floor, which has both indoor and outdoor baths. The free popsicles outside the onsen were a nice touch after a relaxing soak! The Japanese breakfast was excellent, though it would be great to have a few more Western options available.

The rooms are quite small, as is common in Japan, but they were very clean and well-maintained. We appreciated the large TV with Netflix options, which made for a nice way to unwind in the evenings.

The service was very good, and the staff tried their best to be helpful throughout our stay. Another great feature was the free snacks available in the bar area, which added to the welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

Overall, highly recommended for anyone visiting Takayama who wants a modern, comfortable stay with excellent onsen facilities. Would definitely stay here again! 🚆♨️✨

Magical stay in Takayama. Hotel is very convenient to everything, very walkable. Onsen on top floor are well kept, spacious, with outstanding views and both indoor and outdoor hot onsen. Will stay here again

This is a very comfortable hotel. The service is great and the breakfast is excellent. The hotel is just a few minutes walk from JR Station and Bus Terminal. I like the onsen at roof top and the quiet environment.

🌟 Review of Hotel and Spa Gift Takayama 🌟

Amazing little hotel. Everything is brand new and the rooms are as luxurious as they come. We had a room that span three rooms and overlooks the old town. Rooms has a bedroom, a tatami area and a western living area. State-of-art coin laundry that locks your laundry safely till you retrieve it with your pre-programme code. Stayed for three days, but would gladly stay for over a week! Free wifi provided that is of fairly fast speed. Spa/Onsen if you are into this is available at the 9th floor.

Unexpected and amazing luxury in Takayama

I loved my stay here- by far the best big hotel I’ve stayed in in Japan. The staff were so kind, and even asked the chef to provide a gluten free breakfast for me as i am coeliac. The care, warmth and kindness around this issue was amazing. I was given a huge and beautiful breakfast with many different items that were safe for me to eat. The room was lovely- the view over the snowy town roofs was great. The onsen was nice- the outdoor part especially good when it was snowing. One bonus for me was the sauna, although it was 90-92 degrees which is a bit hotter than my preferred sauna temperature. Although there was a little difficulty in accessing the onsen as a trans non-binary person, that’s an issue that I’ve had all over Japan and not the hotel’s fault- it was members of the public that made me feel a bit uncomfortable, not the staff. All in all I had a great stay in this hotel and loved takayama.

My room is facing the mountain side and it was very nice during the day to see the red leaves all around the mountain.   The location is very convenient and just a few minute walk from the train/bus station.   The room is big and spacious.  One thing I would like to comment is the room does not provide any tea bag or coffee.

Excellent !! We had a wonderful room. I upgraded our room to the suite and it was extremely large and spacious with 2 queen beds and a living room area   We loved having the extra space as we were there for 4 days. The hotel was walking distance to most major sites   We were extremely happy with our hotel stay.

The staff are really really nice. The receptionists who served me are trainees, but they are really helpful and polite. The staff who do cleaning are also very very nice! Always with a smile!The onsen was great but I wonder why they don’t swap the men’s and women’s onsen day by day so the guests can see different view (potentially?). The hotel is very closed to the bus and train station and the walk to the main tourist spots is short and decent.Once again, thank you very much for the staff’s warm services!

Lovely new hotel. Good location easy to find. Decor is tasteful and modern. Loved the loungewear they provided clean every day which was useful for wearing to the onsen. The onsen is the absolute stand-out feature of the hotel. Pristine, top floor with beautiful views. I used it every night and one morning too. This would be the number one reason for recommending this hotel or returning to it. There is also a nice seating area up there with a log fire and massage chairs. Reception staff. while polite, were not particularly warm and welcoming. We got the feeling - as elsewhere in the town - that we were not their preference for guests. I think this hotel is more interested in their local market than the tourist market. If they do want to welcome tourists they would do well to ensure their staff spoke some English and also to have someone like a concierge who knows the town and area who can give useful local advice. Another suggestion is to get light see through blinds in some rooms that allow light in but also give privacy. There are only blockout blinds and some rooms look straight into other rooms or have other buildings looking onto them allowing for no privacy.
