Fantastic
270 reviewsWe stayed for 2 nights. We had visited the Valley of the temples during the day then drove over for a 2 night stay before continuing on to Siracusa. The Agriturismo is down a very long, winding country lane. You sense your leaving modern Sicily for a step back. The main building is a beautifully renovated rock structure. We were warmly welcomed with a big smile and felt very welcomed. As we arrived late, 6pm we asked if we could dine in that evening. We had a nice bottle of local wine along with an appetizer of local cheese, meats, roasted vegetables and the most delicious olives we’ve ever had. This was followed by a too large serving of wonderful pasta, then a main dish of a roasted local meat and green peas. Desert was fruit and gelato. Truly wonderful farm meal. The rooms are small, but very comfortable and simply decorated. The bath was fully equipped and clean. There were a pair of French doors and shuttered doors the looked over the hill behind. We sat and read in this area. For breakfast the following morning they served 2 trays of local meats, local cheese, fried and hard boiled eggs, bread butter and jams, cereal, 3 local cakes, 2 types of cookies, fruit including the fruit of the cactus. We dined on the terrace and were served cappuccino and espresso. The food the night before was so good we dined with them our second night. During the day we drove 25 minutes away to see the Villa Romana del Casale. The Mosaics are amazing. As for the Agriturismo Salemi, l would definitely come back. It was quiet and relaxing with no pressure to do anything.
