B&B Casanonni Borgo Angeli

As the title says, a wonderful place run by wonderful people. It's a true family-run B&B, with a lovely garden leading down to the lake and clean, down-to-earth and perfectly functional facilities (bedrooms, beds, bathrooms, a/c, sheets, towels, blankets etc.). Language: I only met the daughter briefly, and she speaks English fairly well. Fortunately, my Italian is fair to middling, so I was able to communicate quite decently with the father, who is a delight but doesn't speak any English, just so you know. I stayed the night of the Champions League final between M. City and Inter, so I asked if there was a bar or cafe in the vicinity where I could go and watch it. He immediately invited me to watch it with him--that's the kind of guy he is--I bought some beers, and we had a fine time. The breakfast was by far the best of all the ones I've had at B&B's in Italy this summer: quality coffee, fresh, hot croissants, and fruit from his garden. When I said my daughter loves apricots (she didn't come with me) he immediately went outside, got a ladder, and picked a half dozen of them for her. The sweetest guy imaginable. The only drawback for me was the location, because while I loved the relaxed surroundings, my main reason for visiting was to see historic Mantova. I have no problem at all with walking and I travelled with only a small backpack for a two-night stay in Verona and then Mantova. But if you're not partial to walking or have a number of bags, you might want to either take a cab or figure out the buses both from the train station (a walk that Google Maps found particularly challenging) and into the historic center (Google Maps didn't distinguish itself here either). For both it's a 45-50 minute walk. Just so you know. Overall though, this was by far my most memorable--in the most positive sense--stay at a B&B in Italy this summer.
