Hotel Orly

We booked direct with the hotel via email based largely on TripAdvisor comments and ratings. It was just fine. During the booking process, they arranged transportation in from the airport. In a very nice location in Providencia, the room we had was on the street. This was not a problem as traffic seems to quiet down pretty early. The room is small in the European fashion, though the bathroom was unusually large with a shower over bath. In fact the whole hotel felt very European, which I don’t mean to say is a bad thing. Computers available for the guests were dependable and fast. The manager seemed over worked and distracted, but when pressed, was full of information on direct questions. He recommended some excellent restaurants nearby and also where to find the lowest prices on Lapis. The breakfast was rather typical, nothing special, but quite adequate. There is a restaurant in the building with tables outside, which was nice for a quick lunch upon our arrival. The hotel is a short walk to Parque Metropolitano, where you can get on the teleferia and get great views of the city. Going down the other side on the funicular puts you in BelaVista, for more great restaurants and shopping. The manager set us up with a private tour, which was a little more expensive than a group tour, but we felt quite worthwhile. We got into many places the groups don’t get into. While this hotel is somewhat unremarkable, it is very clean, neat and in an excellent location, at a pretty good price. Our two nights there were quite comfortable, and I recommend it quite readily and would stay there again if in Santiago.
