Hotel Campiglione

We moved to this hotel from another that had been disappointing, and were very pleased that we did. It is a very clean and comfortable hotel, and even has its own swimming pool - which seems to be something of a rarety in this part of Italy - and great food. This is a family run business, and all the better for it, their friendliness being second to none. Being a small hotel, breakfast is self-serve 'continental' in style, with a good choice of high quality foods. Dinner menu changes daily, and the quality of food belies the modest surroundings. It was easy to eat too much! The restaurant seemed popular with locals, which is a good recommendation. The pool is a decent size, with adjoining paddling areas for smaller children, and there seemed to be enough sunbeds, with a few sunshades available. The one slight negative factor was a number of biting insects around the pool area, but not surprising given the countryside location, and they didn't spoil our enjoyment. The location was very convenient, being on the very edge of a small town with several other restaurants being within walking distance (though we were not moved to try them, being very satisfied with the hotel's food), Assisi on the nearby hill was alluringly visible from the hotel's pool, and only a few minutes away by bus or car - compelling place to visit. Numerous other villages and towns are within easy travelling distance. Nearby Perugia has an airport, though we travelled from Rome (a two hour drive)
