Fantastic
43 reviewsWe arrived very late on Tuesday due to our plane being delayed by 2 hours. We ended up arriving around 11.45pm. Michele, waited up for us and greeted us with the warmest smile. He noticed we were English and openly admitted his English was pigeon, just like our Italian. He noticed we had a car, and kindly loaned us a parking disc for us to park outside La Postale, the disc only allows up to an hour parking but after 8pm, you can park up to 8am. We were allocated Room 1 - The bed was I assume a king, and the mattress was firm but super comfy and fitted 2 people on there with ease. The pillows were very comfortable. The room itself was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was super clean and big, the air con was amazing and the shower was just perfect, heat was lovely and the power shower was a delight. The breakfast, we first went with dulce, which was wonderful, huge croissant with delicate pastries, fruit salad and a well needed cappuccino. There was another family there this morning, who were wonderful to speak to and helped us translate some sentences for us to speak with Michele. After they had gone, Michele used google translate to communicate with us. His warmth and patience was very much appreciated and made our stay more enjoyable. He took an interest in why we were visiting and we had a good conversation as to why we were at San Salvo. Having to translate Italian into English and visa versa, was an eye opener as to how we should have learn a bit more than what we had. Saying this, Michele was wonderful and we can't fault him as a host. He was extremely patient and welcoming for us to converse. We didn't have an issue at all, with the google translate, in fact, we found it endearing and lovely of him that we were all trying to bond. We even had a good conversation about politics, with 2 different languages/ cultures input, it was a great thing to be a part of. I'd suggest asking for the WIFI code straight off the bat, which he was only too pleased to help with when we did ask. We'd also suggest checking your EU plug. We bought one for a prior EU trip, the one with the bigger two prong, but this one didn't fit the plug sockets. We ended up needing to buy one from a local euronics. The plug is still two prong, but with a thinner stalk. The bar across the road, although mentioned in other reviews, they close for a duration throughout the year, we went mid September and the place was closed for 2/3 weeks. There are a few places nearby, like a lovely Mini Market for you to buy some nibbles in. Parking wise, outside of La Postale, you are only permitted to park for an hour. However, head to Piazza Giorgio Amendola - there is free parking there, but this place does get busy just FYI. Overall, we loved La Postale and was everything we needed for this trip. Michele - such a lovely host, and we can't wait to come back out to see you again. Carla (Figlia) and Tracy (Madre)
