Carragh Lodge B&B

My wife and I are well into our 70s and have done lots of B & Bs in our travels BUT now we're pleased to report on our 'best ever'.  We booked into the Carragh Lodge Rosslare for an overnight stay after a 4 hour drive from Somerset and a 4 hour ferry crossing to Rosslare Harbour. This was an overnight stay before driving on to Bunratty the following day. There was a warm, friendly welcome from Kathleen & Denny The room was spotless, the bed comfortable and a great night's sleep.  Breakfast just what we needed etc etc - fantastic.  We will staying there whenever we travel to Ireland in the future.

Arrived off the ferry from Fishguard - had a meal and walked to the hotel - 20 mins in total. Welcome fantastic and the room unbelievable clean - everything so crisp!! The beds comfortable nicely laid out with lovely view out to the garden - even tho it was getting late. The bathroom / shower room was perfection - not a speck of muck !!
Left very early 7am so didnt have breakfast but the taxi arrived spot on time - and a fond fairlweel given. A really good B&B without fault - plenty of parking if needed.

Very warm welcome from the owners of this B&B. Comfortable room with en suite.
Clean and nicely decorated. Tea coffee available in the room. Breakfast, very good fried meal with toast, butter and either jam or marmalade available. Tea and coffee served in pots.

We stayed here before catching the early ferry back to Fishguard. very nice, comfortable and clean tea and coffee making facilities and very friendly owner. Didn't have breakfast cause up to early but did not get charged for this. Our room looked out on the lovely back garden. Would definitely stay again. thank you/

Quick Stay

Night before the ferry

3 night stay

Check-in was supposed to be from 3.00pm, but when my wife and I arrived, along with another couple, there was no-one around to sign us in..!  After waiting for 45 minutes, the owners ,arrived with an apology because they had been shopping...... not good enough..!!  Having said that, the room was pleasant enough, and had wi-if, kettle, hairdryer, TV, usual toiletries in the en-suite., and it had a pleasant outlook over the back garden.  The breakfast was the usual fare, and plenty of it. Beware, tho. -  they don't take credit cards, something not explained when making bookings via the  various on-line agencies, so make sure you have enough cash. -  could be awkward if you are dashing to catch the morning ferry to the UK. 

NO-ONE AROUND WHEN ARRIVING FOR CHECK-IN....!

We arrived quite late in the day after driving from Bushmills (Northern Ireland) and left again early the next day to catch the 8.00 Stenna Ferry to Fishguard.  Our small twin bedroom, and very small ensuite, gave us a comfortable enough night’s sleep and as we had to get up early the light coming through the thin curtains didn’t trouble us too much.  The room would not have suited us for a longer stay but to be fair the hosts were friendly, being a bungalow all rooms were on the ground floor, there was off road parking, the road was quiet and it was an easy walk to the Kilrane Inn (we’d had enough driving for one day) where we both enjoyed a very tasty Beef and Guinness stew.  It was also within a few minutes drive of the ferry terminal so all in all we felt that we had received value for money in a B & B that was in just the right location for our purposes.
