Excellent hotel with clean rooms, great food, mountain view and friendly staff but TV in the room was not working due to bad weather.  Friendly staff. Dinner  in room service also.
Almost 20 minutes walkIng distance to MG Marg. Recommend.

We stayed there for 5 nights and had a superb stay there. The hotel rooms are very large and well maintained. The view from the room and the hotel restaurant is very beautiful. The hotel staff is very polite and friendly. All together it is a very good hotel at a decent budget.

Just back from Gangtok, after a 4 nights stay at Royal Oak. Located near the Paljor stadium, it's a 15 min walk uphill to the MG Marg, quite a steep one, so would recommend taxi service for aged people. Courteous staff, prompt room service is something I would definitely appreciate.. clean rooms having scenic view & basic amenities like electric kettle, flask, hair dryer, geyser. However, there was a smoking odor which needs to be taken care. 

Quite a vast spread for the breakfast, starting from Puri/ kachori sabji, idli, poha, sandwiches, corn flakes, french toast/ bread pakoda, eggs, bread, fruits, juice, tea, coffee & many more options. Would also appreciate the way they had packed our breakfast the day we had to leave early for Tsangu trip.. meticulous & thoughtful indeed. The best thing is the open air terrace, an extended part  of the dining hall. Though the menu options are limited, & a little expensive, quantity is huge & food was always served within 20-30 mins of placing the order. Be it Indian or Chinese, food was delectable & wrapped in foil to keep it piping hot. 

Overall a comfortable stay & highly recommended.

Excellent Stay

The food was amazing. Idli/vada and omelettes in the morning and Manchurian and ice cream at night. The rooms were also very nice and the view was breath taking when the clouds are gone. Other than that, the front desk and staff (restaurant + hotel) wasn't as responsive as we liked. Would not help us out in terms of exploring the area or getting a taxi.

Amazing food, amazing rooms, unresponsive staff

staff was very helpful n corteious, but stay i had was very bad, rooms were dirty, floor tiles all rusted n old rooms not so spacious as shown in picture, room amenities very limited. with the tariff they charge room was not up to the mark. rest food was good n staff was professional.

average stay

We stayed at this hotel for a night in the month of May. The front desk staff was very unfriendly and non responsive. The hotel was very good and restaurant staff was very friendly but not the other staff.

Unfriendly staffs

I stayed there on 28th may with my family, I found room was very badly maintained.Bathroom was stinking even outside when you are in bed.Very basic toilet amenities, jet spray on toilet seat is on left side & dnt have pressure.Stinking phenyl tablets were used in washroom & many were lying on the floor which should have kept away from kids.Dirty & old bed sheets & pillow cover was there.There was a piller inside room which usually should not be inside room making it very congested.Walls, bathroom, tiles, furniture were very dirty.I checked out next day & looked some other hotel.Staff was helpful in getting taxi hired.Rest was average.
