•	Me and my family stayed at the shire Homestay from 22 may to 25 may 2024.
•	It is surrounded by green nature, have a very beautiful gardening and 
        Breathtaking Mountain views, sitting here sip tea in the garden and enjoying the 
        best of nature could bring.
•	The shire homestay is Located very close to Mg Marg about 8 to 10 mins of 
        walking distance.
•	Rooms are pretty, lovely, clean and were cleaned every day.
•	Mr. karma and his family are very nice person, Mr. Karma and his mother took care 
        us like their family. His mother cooks very tasty and healthy food.
•	He arranged transport from NJP to GANGTOK and Gangtok to NJP, apart from 
        this also arranged trip for Nathula pass, Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, changu 
         lake and local sightseen.
•	We are really satisfied with all facilities provided during our stay and we really 
        loved this place.

We came here on a family vacation for a week. We had a wonderful time here. The rooms were clean and classy. The shire is very close to MG Marg and yet secluded and gives you a peaceful and serene stay. Mr. Karma and his family are great people and took care of us really well. His mother’s cooking is very tasty and healthy. The garden and Mountain View is amazing. Overall, if you are visiting Gangtok, close your eyes and book your stay here. It’s worth it.

My 3-day-stay at the Shire was simply amazing. I had no particular expectation before arrival. …. And I left the place with a broken heart to keep on my journey. This homestay really gives you a sense of being at home. Mummy Norkey and Son Karma Tempa are on top of the game. They made us feel very welcome, always asking if needed something. Food was delicious and various throughout our stay. We had no wish whatsoever to go eat in town when we knew it would be delicious and healthy at the Shire. The place is quiet (really quiet! I swear!) even if it is the middle of the city. We had great conversations with Norkey and Karma Tempa. They shared with us their knowledge about the Lepcha culture, treks, religions, gastronomy, biodiversity and orchids. I highly recommend you stay with them. Plus on a lucky day you can see the Kanchenjunga from their terrasse. Amazing !

It has been a Great stay . 
The shire located at heart of Gangtok city with Kanchanjunga peak view.  I and my friend stayed for three nights , all three days stay The host at Homestay karma and his mother Norkie took care us like their family. Highlight of the stay is their Home made traditional food they serve at homestay.
 Karma the orchid expert is the key Member at shire. He always ready to share his local flora and fauna knowledge along with local traditions practiced by local Indigenous community. One should walk around the property with karma  to learn endemic orchids.  Overall we had a memorable stay  can't wait to visit back ..

The house is simply exquisite. The food excellent. Very conveniently located close to the mall. Very nice and hospitable people. From being recieved at the railway station to being dropped at the airport. Transport for local sightseeing and distant everything was arranged by the hosts.

The stay was very good, it was great to interact with the Mr Karma Tempa and his mother. The location is bang in the middle of the city, 10 min walk to MG Road market. The property is a authentic Sikkimese home. The food is home like and decently priced . Rooms are pretty and were cleaned daily. They recommended good cab operators and bike rentals. The host was kind enough to give us a home tour. The approach road is quite steep, no problem for cars, but consider walking only if you are not carrying heavy luggage or are comfortable walking uphill (caution for elderly). Would definitely recommend friends and family to stay there.

The place is simply beautiful, and the food is reminiscent of home-cooked meals that your mother would make. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, offering an excellent view of the surroundings. The staffs are also very friendly and accommodating, and all the necessary facilities are readily available. It's truly a delightful experience.

I spent a wonderful 2 days at this cozy home and loved every moment of it. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the family will go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Truly feels like staying at home. Highly recommend!

I and my family went to Gangtok in the month of October,  2022 and stayed in this homestay, The Shire, and I must say the hospitality of this homestay is just outstanding… I am really satisfied with all the facilities they provided during our stay.. My parents really loved the place… The view from this homestay is amazing… Food is delicious.. Rooms are really very cosy… I would definitely recommend everyone to stay in this homestay whenever you are thinking of visiting Gangtok…

Awesome Stay with a Beautiful View

I stayed at The Shire, Gangtok on 2nd nov and 6 th nov with my family. The rooms were excellent, foods were really good and tasty. Karma ji is really helpful and we had a very good conversation with auntyji(Karma Ji's mother). It felt like we were in our home. You can get a good view of mount Kanchanjangha if the sky is clear from the house balcony. The garden is really beautiful and very nice place for photography..i would recomend to visit The Shire if you are travelling with your family and want peace and a feel like home.

Excellent, felt like home

We had been staying in this homestay for two nights and it was unforgettable stayed. The family are so welcoming and hospitable. Beautiful ambiance, homely and very clean surroundings.good food and they provide you everything you need. Besides this, the place is right  the centre(heart) of Gangtok. Love every bit of the place. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to stay. We had great experience and love sikkim. Until next time .

My stay at the Shire was everything I expected it to be, and more! Its a full circle, writing this review.... since it was a review itself that convinced me to head here!

I was looking for a cozy homestay, a home away from home... in another city really. And I couldnt have been happier! Right from the prompt communication with Karma, and a super warm welcome from his mom... I knew I was going have a lovely time here. I'd just come back from a Vipassana trip, and was craving silence, warmth and the beauty of the mountains. That is exactly what my room gave me, breath taking morning views of the clouds descending on the mountains.

Karma & his mom were super hospitable and helpful. I'd read up about people raving about the traditional Sikkimese food served by aunty, and I couldnt pass up that opportunity. She saw that I loved momos, and for one meal, she served me 2 kinds of momos - in soup, and fried. Food for the soul, literally. She also guided me about the local market, and introduced me to her lovely garden... she even plucked a passionfruit and had me try it out! And as a parting gift, she gave me a few plant. cuttings, which I have brought safely home & potted! I now have a piece of Sikkim growing in my balcony, thank you Aunty! :)

And Karma, he literally sat down with a piece of paper and a pen, and asked me about the places I wanted to visit... and helped me navigate through my day! They shared more than their home with me... their culture, their warmth and left me wanting to come back for more. :)

They also gave me keepsakes from Sikkim... never felt more at home in a city far away from home. Pls dont expect to receive concierge services like a hotel would give you... this is far beyond that. Its a beautiful homestay, with a personalized touch, something that no hotel could ever give you! <3

Thank you Karma & aunty, for opening up your hearts & home to me! I go back with fond memories of Gangtok, thanks to you'll :)
