R S Urban Farm

We had visited Tinchuley Village,it’s a small offbeat hamlet in the month of Oct 18 and had booked one room in a home stay called R S Gurung Farmhouse which is now run by the son after the demise of the original owner R S Gurung who was a part of the famous family of Gurung of Tinchuley who started the Gurung Guest House for which Tinchuley was discovered and got known to the outside world. The farmhouse is situated down a road and near a monastery which is the one and only monastery in this place. This monastery is visible from here.There are three rooms of equal proportions i.e a there is a single large bed adequate to accommodate two adults and a child, there is an attached toilet and if required an additional person can be accommodated in the room on a foldable cot.The first room as you enter has the best view and the room adjacent to it provides a side view. The third room is in the middle so the view is blocked. So it is suggested to book the first room or the second room for the view. The owners stay on the first and there is a dining space where one can have their food. There is no room service except morning tea and evening tea is served in the rooms by one of the family members, a very nice and gentle lady who mostly takes care of the guests. There is an open space in front where there is a hammock and sitting chairs made of wood .From here the view is excellent and one sit here for hours and enjoy the beauty of nature and the surrounding mountains. The farmhouse is surrounded by a pine trees, silence and serenity. There is ample space for parking cars if one plans to take their own car and is absolutely safe as the owners are very well known and have a huge respectability in Tinchuley. Delicious food is cooked and served with a lot of care and love by the ladies of the family and the whole atmosphere is very homely and warm. One can a stroll inside the premises as the space inside is huge and owned by the family. You will not get the comforts of a star hotel or a professionaly run resort or a guest house here but you will get an abundance of warmth and a feeling of inclusion as if you are part of the family. You will also get a lot of tips of where and how you should enjoy nature in Tinchuley from a lovely and sweet person by the name of Mr.Chiten Gurung a multi talented person who has various interests in other things too .He is the son of the house and is an experienced and trained hiker,mountaineer,guide,trekker etc. The best way as suggested by him to enjoy Tinchuley is to walk and trek. And we have no regrets having listened to his suggestions.Thanks once again to the family.the matriarch Mrs.Gurung and specially Chiten and Jogita(elder sister of Chiten) for taking such good care of us and for being so warm and friendly. It was a memorable stay which we will not forget and hope to meet you guys again. One last tip mobile network is almost non existent here so do all your transactions and any work related to internet before you enter this place.
