Taj Green Cove Resort & Spa Kovalam

Room : Stayed in a partial sea view cottage on the first floor, which had a nice view of the lagoon cum sea from the private balcony. The room layout were good and amenities were what can you expect from any Taj Resort. Resort: Lush green resort. Not so large as a typical beach resort - they just had 60 odd rooms - all in a cottage / Villa style. No building rooms as such. Beachfront: Now they don't really have access to a beach. They have a long beachfront which houses multiple lawns and the seafood speciality restaurant. But between the lawn and the sea are rocks and the sea is not accesible. We did not miss the sea per se. But this is a point to be noted. They also offer a boat ride on the lagoon, which could be a hit or miss, since the lagoon is green and somewhat dirty. Food: We mostly had regional costal food - tried many of their dishes at Curries (Indian speciality restaurant) and Bait (seafood speciality restaurant). And everything was delicious - the grilled pearl spot fish with coastal marinade was extraordinary. Bait is a unique experience - rarely you have a restaurant which is right up there on the seaside. However, the cocktails both at Neera and Bait, were rather average. Breakfast : Arranged in the pool side restaurant. Because of the limited rooms, it was never too crowded - which is awesome! This is where larger resorts suffer. The spread was by and large vegetarian, which was a little surprising. Food quality was high as usual, in a Taj. Activities / Sunset : Evening Tea with live music, multiple sports and games could be the highlight of the experinece. Everyone, kids adults and seniors enjoyed it well along with watching the sun set over the sea. Room Tip: Go for Partial Sea View rooms over the Garden rooms and try to get a foom on the first floor - the small delta in price is totally worth it. If you spend more, the pool villas and cliff villas are also there - the higher position gives a better sea view.
