Annalyn Guesthouse

We stayed for one night here on our way back from Vik and heading to Keflavik. As is the custom in some guesthouses, we took our shoes off in the entryway. On-street parking was sufficient and it is located in a quiet neighborhood. The room was clean, relatively spacious when compared to other stays we had on our road trip throughout Iceland. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom is shared but likewise spacious and well-appointed. While no breakfast is served, guests can use the kitchen for their morning meal, an opportunity we and other guests too took advantage of to prepare toasted breads, to enjoy coffee, tea, yogurt, juice, muffins and so on we purchased from the local Bonus grocery store. A hot water pot is available in the hallway 24X7 for making hot teas. While as Americans we were kind of put off briefly by no locks on any of the guesthouse rooms, our Norwegian host (or was he Russian…I’m still not sure) — who during our check-in and breakfast regaled us with tales both tall and maybe even true — put our mind to ease and, upon departure, my wife even snapped a photo of me standing beside him. When we were planning our one night stay in Selfoss, we found it difficult and frustrating to reserve a ‘triple’ room in a guesthouse/b&b – even 4 months ahead - and we were very happy to have found Annalyn Guesthouse to meet our needs and provide great comfort, excellent hospitality and economical value.
