I highly recommend anyone visiting Budapest to stay at the Loft Hostel. Stayed there for a few nights with a friend, was a great vibe- very cosy, clean, great location everyone was friendly! Thank you to the all the hosts, especially Alessandro for being so friendly and accommodating- really great guy :). Would definitely stay here again if I came back back to Budapest. 

This is a small hostel but is full of warmth, is located in a great (and centrally located) neighbourhood, and is very comfortable. The   fully kitted out common room, kitchen and dining area are great spaces to hang out with fellow travellers and it was much easier than most other non-party hostels to make friends quickly. Best of all, the managers – Alice and Alessandro – are just the loveliest people and are more than happy to help out with travel suggestions or advice, as are their other staff. I’m definitely returning to the Loft when I come back in a few years :)

Hidden gem ! The place is unique , lots to look at all over the walls  , clean, cosy  and the staff are super friendly and helpful .! Will stay again . Highly recommend coming here . Close to everything

The hostel was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect - everything in the city was easily accesible.
Alessandro was beyond helpful and friendly and answered any questions we had. There was a lovely chilled and laid back atmosphere, I would definitely recommend!

Two English speaking young hosts (Alice and Alexander) make you feel at home. Everything is top quality. The Loft Hostel is centrally located in Budapest at the top of a old apartment building with elevator. The wood construction is exposed in the high-ceilinged rooms of good condition. Everything is very clean.

The Loft Hostel is all you're looking for if you're not looking for a party hostel. 
Very chilled out atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Juan was extremely welcoming, immediately making us a feel at home and also gave us some very good recommendations around the area and further away from the hostel as well.
We stayed in the private double, which is a detached apartment from the hostel, so I can't fully comment on the facilities in the hostel. I can definitely say we had an amazing shower though! Lots of pressure. We also had our own kitchenette and fridge. Very convenient.
Perfect location - you can really reach most of the main sights by foot. Lots of great pubs around. 
We travelled to Budapest on a really quiet time of the year so we did not unfortunately meet many fellow travellers in the hostel. But I would hang out there anytime - free tea and coffee, comfortable, cosy common area with lots of dvds, board games, books, etc.

10/10 would return!

Stayed for a few nights when had a long weekend off. Felt like I was crashing with a cool Bohemian musician I met at the local pub. Like a hidden oasis in the center of the city, super easy to get to all the major city landmarks. Everyone else staying there was super chill. Just be ready for the 8 AM bells. :) 

After travelling Europe for a week, arriving at this hostel was a blessing. I came in exhausted and a bit ill and the Loft was like coming back home. The staff go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible (shoutout to Juan's initial briefing about the hostel and the city when you get there). The place is clean, organised and clearly taken care of. The rooms are VERY spacious, great lightning and a big common area. It also hosts a limited amount of people, so it feels like a big family. Met some great people here. Would recommend to my friends, no doubt.

This was by far the best hostel I've ever stayed in. The atmosphere was friendly and I met some great people to explore with. The hostel was very comfortable and immediately felt like home. 
The location was very central. It was only a 5 minute walk from the first stop of the express bus from the airport. Besides going to/from the airport, you probably won't need to use public transportation unless you want to go somewhere far; we used the metro to get to some thermal baths that were a little too far for us to walk in the cold and dark, but otherwise we walked everywhere.
The staff were super kind and friendly. When I arrived, they immediately gave me two maps and explained the layout of the city to me and gave me a bunch of good recommendations for nearby.
I would definitely recommend this place to other solo travelers who like to meet fellow travelers (but also like to have a quiet, comfortable place to sleep at night). It would also be a good spot for digital nomads looking for a good home base - the cheap food in Budapest and the great hostel experience made me wish I could have stayed much longer.

We booked the only private room at the hostel. The room was actually a separate apartment on the same floor as the hostel. 

Hannah the manager is a fellow Australian who has friendly and helpful and made sure we were looked after. The hostel is on the top floor of an old apartment building and takes up one side of the top floor. The place is really charming with exposed timber beams and wide floorboards. Everything is clean and cosy. There are couches and beanbags in the common area and plenty of tea and coffee available. 

We regularly found Hannah and the other guests chatting around the dining table. 

Our room was a large apartment with kitchen and our own bathroom. The shower was nice and strong. The bed was a little hard for me but was comfortable. Again the place was clean and neat. It was also really quiet. We barely heard anyone coming or going the whole time. 

The hostel offers plenty of information on local sights and tours and Hannah’s advice did not lead us astray. There is a brilliant coffee shop downstairs that makes great coffee and delicious food. 

The proximity is great here too with 5-15 minute walks to the key parts of Budapest.

Best Hostel for Friendly, Chill Travelers

A quiet room at a great hostel

This was only my second time visiting a hostel, but I think, in terms of cosiness/friendliness this hostel will remain in my top 3. The location is a perfect base for exploring the entirety of Budapest, located nearby the Jewish district with lots of shops/bars/restaurants nearby. The staff (Chris and Amra) are genuinely really nice people and the atmosphere doesn't feel fake or forced like some of the larger hostels. 

This kind of hostel would suit people who want an intimate space where you can get to know your fellow travellers in a large communal area consisting of a large sofa and some beanbags. There are two bathrooms which was fine as when I stayed the hostel was barely at 1/4 capacity, but I would imagine when all rooms are full it might be an issue, the kitchen again, is rather small should the hostel be full.

My only negative point about the hostel would be that on the first night I stayed in one of the double beds which the mattress was so flat I could feel the metal mesh beneath it, Chris assured me that the mattresses would be getting replaced in the near future during a refurbishment, the second night I was able to move to another bed with a better mattress.

Cosy little hostel in the heart of Pest

My husband and I stayed at the Loft Hostel on a short weekend trip to Budapest in January. It was cold outside, but the hostel was warm and cozy - it felt just like we'd arrived to an old friend's home when we arrived. The staff are laid-back and take a lot of time to chat and recommend favorite hidden spots nearby. The hostel is in a really unique space being on the top floor (there's an elevator) of an old style apartment building - lots of fun nooks and crannies around and you get the feeling that you are living in Budapest even though it's a short stay. 

We can't wait to go back and will definitely be staying here again!
