Acroterra Rosa Luxury Suites is a true haven in the quieter southern part of Santorini — scenic, and ideally located. It’s just 20 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the bustling centre of Fira, and a quick 5-minute drive to fascinating ancient ruins and a beach with welcoming tavernas. The nearby village of Akrotiri is only a 5-minute stroll away and offers a good selection of local restaurants and a small store and chemist. I’d recommend renting a small car — the roads are narrow and winding — although there is a fairly regular bus service for those who prefer not to drive. Fira and Oia, the island’s two main towns, can get crowded when the cruise ships dock. But if you visit before 10am, you’ll beat the rush and enjoy the charm without the crowds. Acroterra itself is a small, boutique hotel with exceptionally warm and attentive staff. The food is delicious, and the property is kept spotlessly clean throughout. It even has a small chapel on the premises. I'd recommend that you stay in a room with a view out to the beautiful Caldera. If you’re looking for a relaxing retreat with easy access to livelier spots, this place offers the best of both worlds. And don’t worry — if your idea of a holiday involves dancing on tables or smashing a plate or two, the local nightlife is just a short drive away!
