We spent four days in summer visiting Winterberg and surrounding towns, just relaxing with long walks on the many maintained hiking trails in the area in the morning, and enjoying the spa in the afternoon. Service was friendly and efficient, and fairly casual. The spa area and treatment rooms reflected the same attitude - clean and straight-forward, casually elegant, and wonderfully set in the local environment. If you are looking to bask in luxury and obsequious service, that is not the style here. But it delivers a relaxing and friendly experience in a modern, very comfortable setting. Breakfast was consistently well presented, with good breads and fresh ingredients, and service was good. We had one evening meal in the hotel restaurant, and felt was well made and a decent value, but perhaps not outstanding in any special way. Extremely easy to walk to any local restaurant in the evening. We would enjoy another stay here, and recommend it for the area.
